I am going to say right off the bat that this thread is NOT PC. I'm sure it will get flamed by a huge number of angry she climbers right up the bat. However, I think it deserves to exist so here it is. Every time i click on a photo with an attactive female climber in it, there is inevitably a long list of angry women posters who feel debased soley because somebody made an allusion to the fact that the subject of the shot is attractive. Now, i am the first to agree that sexist comments have no place in a forum like this, but why is it that nobody feels debased when a female poster has the urge to comment on sharma's rippling deltoids? Feminists say that when men seek to create the image of the pamela anderson stereotype, they are doing a disservice to their female counterparts...yet when somebody does voice appreciation for an athlete with a so called "real" physique, they are looked down on for it. So, in response to the situation, i have created this thread for you to post up your RC.com shots of all those attractive ladies (and boys too, we are all about equality on this thread). Alright ladies and gents, lets see those rippling glutes. Remember...its all in the name of equality.

This is greater than those...its about looking past gender and social status and intelligence and judging people not on who they are, but by how they look. And did that guy just say meatbombs? Can't say ive heard that one before.

"Looking past gender and social status and intelligence and judging people not on who they are, but by how they look..." Are you serious? Unhand the sociology homework, oy. I'll take a stab at it, being an Angry She Climber and overall bitter bitch with major tit envy. When a photo of a "real" girl next door type toproping an 8 or leading a ledgy 5.6 shows up on the front page (or for that matter, doing something rad but with the camera going straight into her tits), with a litany of gushing babble, we feel patronized. As with any photo on the front page, we want to feel inspired. We don't want to see something entirely average in subject and composition. It's why we don't vote up or catcall snapshots of men dinking around on weekend warrior stuff either. But a chick does something utterly unimpressive and it's everywhere, because of a few guys with a boner, and that irks the Angry She Climbers and some men, who are cut down with "your just jelus" or some derivative thereof, and "you don't appreciate female beauty" (you can abbreviate this to "gay," right?). I see the compliment in there but it's lame. Up your standards and conduct, knuckle-draggers. If I wanted to see a chick toproping moderates I'd attach a mirror to my beanie. Angry enough for ya? Go ahead, assume I'm just some busted chubby bitch who can't crank the rads or attract half a dozen boys to spot me in the gym and that's why I'm so foul.

I actually invited people to post up shots of guys if that was their thing as well. If just wanted naked, then i would go and post the shot of the two topless girls in front of half dome. Here, this will make you feel better: looking good and pulling hard.

I assumed your impetus for starting this thread was in response to the many blah photos of women on blah routes, wherein we are called "Angry She Climbers" (that exact phrase) for being vocal in our disapproval. You know, a good photo of a rad route that doesn't focus on breasts or lipstick doesn't generally get the same angry reaction.

Well, I can't speak for that, as I don't remember it being me (though, who knows, I may have gone into food coma on inhaling kettle chips and redi whip and forgotten ) But again, I think us "ASC" girls would rather be praised for ability, not looks, even if we have both. Again, being the feminists that we are, we get annoyed when our achievements are overlooked in favor of something we actually had nothing to do with and is very superficial.

For photos of a brilliant climber of above average intelligence (read very intelligent) with an amazing personality (she will help anyone from noobs to those who climb at the same standard), who happens to be an attractive female, with shoulders and arms most male climber long for, try; leahcraneclimbing.com I know Leah and am a great fan and the more publicity she gets, and the more hits her site gets, the more her sponsors will help her in her ambition to reach the top. Go on make her day!

climbsomething wrote: It's why we don't vote up or catcall snapshots of men dinking around on weekend warrior stuff either. Sorry, Hillary, but this just ain't so. I've had pics of me both catcalled at and voted up, merely because I was showing some skin from a flattering angle. And yes, on weekend warrior climbs, and yes, in some *terrible* photos! Fact #1 - it happens. Fact #2 - I'm not special. Fact #3 - It simply isn't a big deal, in fact, it's rather flattering. Truth is, there's a double-standard. And that really isn't a problem, despite the OP's lack of insight. Treat folks how they want to be treated, simple as that. Women and men are different in some ways And you know what, I think that's fine! That's pretty much what this all boils down to. Women and men are different in some ways, and I have no problem acknowledging that and appreciating the difference. As the French say, Vive le... GO P.S. Here are two examples I found real quick. Photo 1: Comments: "They shuld have named it muscles for Gabe! Meow!!!" "a mediocre pic, but what girl could resist those muscles?! Not me, an 8." "yowsa! i'm pretty sure you should come to colorado and be my 5.12 rope gun. yep. definitely sure." "Damn!" Photo 2: Description: "Fighting the pump as I grease off all the holds on this pumpy 5.10d. God I was a sweaty mess." Comments: "were u salty as well besides sweaty....mmmm haha!" Please don't misunderstand. I take the comments above in the way they were meant - as a lovely lighthearted appreciation of the images. Edited because I forgot to add - both pics received at least one "10". No doubt for my intelligence and personality! ;) GO

The truth is women don't want equality. They like the situation just want more of it. Sure that sounds sexist, but my sis, is a card carrying member of NOW. She runs a pro-choice group on her college campus, she stages sex rights rallies and other BS. When I debate her it always comes out that hard core feminist don't want equality they want whole meat and potatoes. For instance, they don't want to be forced to sign up with Selective Service. I always pull that one out if I am losing a debate with her. Of course if we want equality then it has to be 100% equal. Not just the good stuff. Bottom line is sign up for the NOW mailing list and you'll suffer serious depression. I get about 12 emails a day (ok I'm exagerating by about 6 emails) all point out how women are dogs. So sexism is nothing more than a bunch of bullshit, a way for people to make themselves feel important. Basically a way for some angry individuals to find a soap box that everyone can hear them from. I don't care if that offends anyone either.

You actually pay attention to feminists? Tell them to put on a bra, shave their armpits, and find a husband. Nobody's listening.

I actually invited people to post up shots of guys if that was their thing as well. If just wanted naked, then i would go and post the shot of the two topless girls in front of half dome. Here, this will make you feel better: [image]http://www.rockclimbing.com/images/photos/assets/7/344927-largest_abi.jpg[/image] looking good and pulling hard. Who posted that pic, if you don't mind me asking?

[quote "pitonmaybe climbing nudes are not totally stupid it just attracts the dumb I dunno... Botticelli had his following. And Gauguin. And Degas. And that Picasso dude. And anyway, I can't say that I've ever seen a nude photo on RC.com. Of course, maybe that's a good thing. I'm not sure I'd want to see some of the ASCs in the raw.

Orsay has Degas' "Seated Woman Combing her Hair." She's nekkid. And lumpy. Degas actually did a lot of nudes. Anyway, you're right. Stupid comparison. I just like to poke fun at the people who take things so seriously here... like a photo of an attractive female, or a little cleavage. Sheesh.

Personally, I don't need to see the average girl to feel good about myself. I am one. However, when I buy a magazine, or look at a professional photo, I like to see (and this may seem shallow) good looking people. Not some man with man boobs, or some woman with a muffin top trying to hall themselves up the wall. It just doesn't work for me. Let's face the fact. Good looking people sell products better. Also, there will always be jerks making comments about them. Hell, even if they were ugly they would still make comments. The thing is, if they are ugly most of the comments are silent, or contained to being said in front of the computer. What's more likely to be said and posted, Wow, look at that girl's ass, or Wow, what a fat ass. However, it's kinda like porn...I don't want to see the ugly ones...ha ha!...But hey, I might live in a different social reality than you.

Irrelevant. But nice. Looks like his homeless shots are in his "personal" gallery. He also shoots album covers for bands. Your point?

I call shenanigans....You show me a girl who doesn't appreciate a tasteful comment on her looks (be it from a man or woman) and I will call you a liar. Bingo. I think that is the truth and it doesn't matter how attractive you are, everyone gets a boost from a compliment. For all I know, a kind word probably makes your brain produce some sort of endorphine. If its about your climbing abiilty or your looks, or what a great job you did on a project- what IS the problem? If a guy says "hey you looked good on that move" are you really gonna get all suspicious thinking he meant your ass? Guys are hard wired to check out women's bodies, thats the way it is. Posed she-climber porn is as obvious (and lame, and dumb) as any other porn, you and I both know its designed for a purpose. But I so appreciate the times when men react positively & get all stoked about very capable strong women. I love men who think an athletic woman is hawt!! But if you guys make some leering sicko comment, or a sexist comment, I just might bust your ballz. I am intelligent, I am beautiful (enough), I am athletic, and if "kitchen slave" is what your ideal of "woman" is, you better runnoft FAST and find some dumb-ass be*atch with no self-esteem 'cuz there's no room for you in MY world. Run along now! Really, being a woman, I think we get all bent when you get all gushy about OTHER women!! If its ONLY because she's hawt, we'll be like GET A CLUE A-HOLE!! If she's hawt and pulls down hard, we'll probably agree with you :) (well I will, I can't speak for the other wimmin on rc.com) I also like my gear to look good as well as be functional. If I have to choose between functional and good looking, I'll chose the more reliable product, but if you can give me both, you can have my hard-earned money. There are simply these social ideals of what is attractive and those ideals change from time to time, century to century, and between social groups. These aren't the days for rubenesque women. On the other hand, the most beautiful woman friend I know is a 46-yr old mom of two rowdy sons, an astonishing engineer, runs a large env'l consulting firm here, and is simply drop dead beautiful, with a curvy figure and the most translucent skin I've ever seen. Every time I see her I am struck by how luminescent she looks. For 12 years, she's been stunning. *Sigh* Anyways. I digress. If I ever pull down hard enough to deserve a compliment, I would be stoked for propz. Until then, I guess I'll take what I can get, so go ahead, you can compliment my ass pretty much anytime.

And a good one at that. However, my wife is so spoiled by the cooking that literally the thought of making something out of a can is beneath her. Some nights I work late and it will be 11pm and I'll get a call or text, when are you coming home, I need to eat. I'll write back, eat cereal or something out of the pantry (cereal, canned soup, etc). She writes back, you cook, I eat and clean.
