I can find you something cheaper than 500. Promise. For example: Boston to Montrose, round trip, flying on the 9th and 14th, is $366 (with a stop in Denver to change to a small plane.) If you can arrange a ride from Denver, it's only 218 for BOS-DEN. There's plenty of folks including me who'd be happy to drive you from Denver to Ouray. There ya go, Biner. $220 plus the cost of some beer and gas for Angry, and you're at Ouray for less than $250 or so. It really doesn't get cheaper. (PTFTW.)

Biner, it sounds like you're out of excuses... so I'll cya there! Lisa, plane ticket in hand... well done. Unfortunately I fully have plans of being drunk on the urine of our southern brothers (tequila, but probably double barrel, even though I don't know what that means...) If no one else is sober, then I'll do my best to steal some keys and come get ya. Speaking of plane tickets... Anykinsteve when should I fly in? Drop me a pm. Reno, I miss you... you complete me... wait, what? Get your straw out of my drink... PS. Ron, I'm sorry about the colts, but it doesn't matter until the playoffs anyway... PPS. Apparently I'm a fan of ...

And I'm at the New right now... climbing with the Jungmeister himself in the am. I wonder if I can convince him that we need a Jung and Punkin presence at the fest?

Oh yeah, I'll be heading to Ouray Saturday, the 5th. So if anyone is planning on coming in early you can fly into Colorado Springs Friday and you've got a ride.

In the midst of convincing my parents that the best possible xmas present would be a ticket to colorado springs... we'll see what happens, hopefully it'll be done this week.

Here's my plan. I'll be there, a little. I'm not too into festivals of any sort, but I do like Ouray and I'd like to meet some of you folks. I don't think I'll have more than a day or two of work to do all of January, so why not. As far as sleeping goes, I'm not really psyched on $50-70 a night for a room sooo.... A) Let's get a whole crew together and split it B) I'll sleep in the back of my truck C) Every night I'll slaughter a cow and sleep inside it I'd prefer the room because it gets dark so early, I don't want to go to bed at 6.

Angry, I'm psyched to meet you. And the fest isn't as much fest if you don't want it to be. It's the best time. Not sure what the room situation is though.

I should have used more gender awareness when posting, and for that I am truly sorry. But you can understand my flippancy. Normally, it's only when talking about Anykineclimb's member that women start running away. Sheep, too.

if i had a credit card, i would throw down and go. But thus far, the good companies have wisely decided to decline me, and I remain a cash only girl, which is tricky when theres not much cash :) Next year, for sure. I'm gonna put in for the time off now!

anykineclimb wrote: clinic registration starts TODAY!!! I've heard about this festival for years, and I'm stoked to be going along with friends this year. So for a rookie ice climber, with some experience on lower-angle mixed rock/ice (mountaineering w/ axes & crampons) but no experience with vertical ice or new ice tools.... it looks like there are a quite a few women's clinics to chose from to get me thru my awkward n00b-ness. Any recommendations wrt to clinics or instructors ? Mead, and white tequilas?? uh-ohhh!

reno wrote: geogoddess wrote: Any recommendations wrt to clinics or instructors ? Well, I've never done a woman's clinic, but I think any of the "Intro" classes would be fine. Learn the basics, get some practice on safe climbs, and so forth. Be sure to hook up with the rest of us. We promise that we'll turn you to the Dark Side of Debauchery and Bad Behavior. If you ask nice, mr8615 might even take off his clothes. My GF will be taking the "easy ice for women" if you feel more comfy around other ladies, thats probably your best best. Theres also a "beginner ice" class thats being taught at the new kids area so I suspect that will be waay easy. these are coed though. As Reno mentioned, get together with the rest of us for the important, after dark clinics. You won't have to pay, but it'll cost ya
