such hostility, I thought that was reserved for us here in NC :-) (Of course if there was no FA and there were bolts ya just would have come back to bunch O chopped bolts - assuming they were not hammered in on lead ;-) ) Still seems to be an un-answered question though... was the route tagged??? Has nothing to due with the route being sent when it was put up. When I climb an area, I don't 'ask permission' to hit a route (that woudl be fun at the New, if it is tagged though, I'll respect that. All in all I can see being upset, but your post(s) don't sound very 'Christian' or seem to show much respect....

Let me get this straight you didn't tag the route. It even appears that it was listed on this sight in the DB. So you listed the route on the sight, and then expected people to stay off of it. I don't really understand why you are so upset. I believe this all got started cause someone put an assent in the log on the DB. Dare I say TROLL

bradkillough wrote: I made my statement and that is all I have to say about it, And actually for the most part all of you are right, he didn't do it the first time and you can have it ! Just have to get your own hanger's jerk! A few points to be said; It appears that your son failed to red tag the first hanger. His mistake and not anyone elses. If you were not aware of this procedure, now you are and you are likely not about to forget it. Red webbing or survey ribbon tied through the first bolt does the trick, and please date it so that others can know if you have given up on the project. You have siad your son worked on the project for a LONG TIME. Perhaps it was beyond his ability if he failed to achieve the first ascent in all that time, thus making it open for others to try. Cleaning and equiping new routes is an honorable task, and is much appreciated by all of us, but stripping your route because you got robbed, and calling others who share this sport with you "jerks", is rather childish. For someone who considers himself a leader for "Climbers for Christ", you may want to be a little more aware of your image and how others may view you as a role model. We went climbing in a new area, were walking around, saw a short little route to warm up on, climbed it, said it was fun, and continued on. How were we suppose to know it was being worked? There was chalk all over it and had no indication that it was a project. Are people in the area just suppose to read your mind? I'm sorry, but we're not going to get all the beta on all the routes in the area before we climb them. If you're working a project, then tag it and people will stay off it, else we're going to be stealing a lot more of your routes... No, I'm sorry, you don't need to say sorry, I'm sorry!

I live in the southeast. We have LOTS of climbing around here - and lots of development in certain areas. If you don't red tag your new routes that you want the FA on... plan on someone coming around and climbing it. Lesson to be learned- if you work hard, put in equipment, and don't want someone to climb on your newly found route- you've gotta put a tag on it. I have found that people respect red tags and won't climb routes that are marked as such. You are right, thank's

I would like to give my sincere apologie's to everyone, it wasn't very christian of me to rant so childishly about something that wasn't our's to begin with, so if I hurt any feeling's I'm really sorry! I am a christian, but certainly not perfect!

I don't think bradkillough knows what's going on. My partner, zenelky, got the FA of a TR route that just got bolted (the route in question) by a friend of ours. There's a bolted boulder problem around the corner that I think this guy's talking about. This guy has issues. And NO!, none of the routes there have tape on them.
