Considering how frequently climbers make lifestyle choices that severely stack the deck against any kind of serious relationship (and in some extreme cases virtually guarantee no liaisons with members of the opposite sex), it seems like a fair question. Discuss.

Discuss. This belongs in the Sport Climbing forum. If he has to ask, yes it does. I like women, not girls.

You should make this a poll... My answer is yes. But I only climb 5.9 and my son hang dogs 5.5 on TR. So am I really a climber? ;Don

notapplicable wrote: In light of these pants, magic eight ball says - "Odds are not good" Ooohh, I see that he found those tights that he was asking about earlier! Too bad that they aren't the "ass-enhancing" kind. Psst, knieveltech, there are special types of underwear with control panels that make your butt look better. I think Victoria Secret sells them. Back to original question, I find that climbers like girls well enough, but girls don't like climbers in leopard print lycra, especially when the said tights reveal critical figure flaws.

And what, pray tell, is wrong with an endless succession of short-term casual relationships?

Just joking man, didn't you know: unless you get married you're going straight to hell. Stop dancing with the devil and meet a nice mormon girl or jehovah's witness.

My better half is no where near into crimpin' and grippin' as I as. However, she understands my passion for it and accomidates, even encourages, me. I give some too...mostly by doing a little bit more prior planning than before she was in my life. I always ask (read want) her to come out and climb with me. But if she isn't down and I solo, then I make sure to thank her for doing all the "grown-up" stuff that she takes care of in my absance...a little thanks goes a long way. That's what works for us. Maybe it would work for some others, but I guess everyone has to find their own way. BTW Rocknovice, I lived in the pan-handle of Florida for about 9 months. The beach is perfect, but I had to take alot of road trips to Alabama in order to hit the stone and keep my sanity. Peace.

Depends on how closely related to them I am. Cousins are the hottest. Every now and then I'll sneak into my aunt's room and smell her panties. My sister is a real fatty so she is out of the question. My wife climbs so she doesn't count. Wait...what was the question again?

I am thankful my husband is really supportive of my climbing just as I am with his running, biking and swimming. The time to pursue our own hobbies is probably very healthy, I just have this dream of spending our retirement together climbing. (that will never happen) He has a dream we will ride bikes across the country together (not likely). We will just have to find good areas of the country where we can travel to and do both and have together time doing stuff we both enjoy, like drinking!

yeah, mounter hit the nail on the head - better halves who accomodate your interests are where it's at. do what you can to keep 'em happy and be damn grateful when you arrive home at the end of the day to find your dinner's been cooked and your skanky climbing clothes from last week have been laundered. steve

It sounds cliche, but a bit of give and take is where it's at.
