I reckon an unsuspecting host would have been better.... someone who has no choice but to see their thread grow into a huge slab of puss sores.... one thing for sure, you just can't stop picking at it.

I'll take two tickets thanks....

Coffee stunts your climbing.... it's a well-known fact from another thread.... OK, well, it stops route-rage at least.

You'll find the coffee over there between the jelly bean dispenser and the mounted montage of Chossy's deck project.

What the fuck is all this?!

The top of the bar is unfinished plywood.
The recliners are covered with cat hair.
The tile barely makes it out of the foyer.
Chossy is sitting at the bar drinking caucasions and making a series of one liners.

*sigh* Well, what else can you expect with Mr. Monkey running the show.

Uh oh
sounds like becs wuntz work done now...

That's like saying if Tiger Woods was really a good golfer he would only use one golf club.

Hmmm, should I use the #4 wood or the putter today?

Maybe a #3 iron?
I agree. and that is exactly what I told Bruce when I bought another pair of climbing shoes and he asked why I needed more than one. I asked him...can you golf with just one club? Do you fish with just one fishing pole? He didn't say anything after that.

Since most of the time we were never climbing more than a ten minute walk from any given restaurant we would just stop for lunch and walk to the closest one to eat.
Probably the most remote routes are maybe a half an hour walk from a restaurant.
Not counting the DWS routes or the ones on an island of course.

Since most of the time we were never climbing more than a ten minute walk from any given restaurant we would just stop for lunch and walk to the closest one to eat.
Probably the most remote routes are maybe a half an hour walk from a restaurant.
Not counting the DWS routes or the ones on an island of course.

Woooo Hoooo!!!!!

Hey kachoong that reminds me, don't mess with the crab eating Macaques in Thailand. There is an army of them and they will attack en masse and throw poo...

Will do!! I'll keep my accusation and finger pointing to myself then, if that constitutes "messing" with them.

Do they steal your food?

Although I'm wondering how the best way to get pics of climbing is when there will only be the two of us. Do you think there'll be other climbers there at this time of year?

Yeah, I should be able to work up to 11b/c. I'd also like to find as many as we can in the 5.9-10b/c range for my wife. I'm sure she'll be happy to belay me on a few harder ones for sure.

You should be able to head over to just about any area at that time of year and not have to deal with as much of a crowd since it is the off season.
There will be guides with clients but they're friendly enough.

Sweet! Actually, I was thinking of maybe hiring a guide to show us the good spots... but maybe just talking to them with the guidebook in hand is sufficient.

Would you recommend heading to Koh Phi Phi early on in the trip for the easier routes there?

I wouldn't be able to answer that never having been to Koh Phi Phi.
I've heard it's much more crowded and touristy than Rai leh so that pretty much killed any interest I had in going there...

Wee recommends a list of routes in his guidebook and those are all a really good start.

Sounds like a great start. We can also book a day or half day with him DWS. Where in relation to the RBC is Wee's climbing shop?

Kachoong
Wee's shop is on Tonsai Road to get there from RBC you'll have to go over the Hilly jungle.
Facing the ocean go to the right side of the beach away from the other resorts on Railey. Look for a Fallen Log against the cliff, it can be hard to spot as it's old and fades into the hillside. don't be fooled by the logs closer to the sealine. The trail starts out steep and then levels out before dropping down into a cleft between some rocks and the cliffside. Along the way you'll pass the tyrolean wall some good routes here. The trail deposits you near dums kitchen. head up the beach and pass Tonsai resort a road here leaves the beach and starts going up hill this road forms a U with either end at both ends of the beach. Wees shop is at a T section in the road.

I agree. and that is exactly what I told Bruce when I bought another pair of climbing shoes and he asked why I needed more than one. I asked him...can you golf with just one club? Do you fish with just one fishing pole? He didn't say anything after that.
Wow!

You might be trainable yet?

You got new shoes?

Yeah the new place is cush, well except for the unfinished plywood bar top and cat hair on the recliners that is...
I wondered why I was sneezing in here.

I am going to have to finish my GU efforts in both threads later tonight after some beerz. on my way out.

Chossy, I didn't get an email/PM about yours and beccs climbing plans on the weekend. Are you bailing on me? Sat rain. Sunday climb?
I was working.

Other than for no rain today the weather was perfect.

oh, and the fact that you'd still have to wait till '09 for me to deliver on that payment, cause I can't smoke till then, and no way in hell i'm going to shoot myself in the face before i ash it.

Maybe a #3 iron?
I agree. and that is exactly what I told Bruce when I bought another pair of climbing shoes and he asked why I needed more than one. I asked him...can you golf with just one club? Do you fish with just one fishing pole? He didn't say anything after that.
Wow!

You might be trainable yet?

You got new shoes?

They better be 5.10!

And why were you talking to the gum on the bottom of your shoe? Do you want it to keep sticking? Its not helping you donny status.

Actually I was just taking your hint and deleted the other ones that have no merit.

I meant from my list, toolbag.
I deleted the first couple as a peace offering, which you threw in my face.

haha Toolbag. Add that to the list wander

I'm going to not add that as a peace offering to get our lists deleted.

Although it didn't work the last time.

This is not condusive to the removal of the list.
I enjoy pissing you and l'habitant off. The lists do this.

What did I do to you?!?

Do you want to climb at Cathedral sometime in June? I think I can rope Epoch into doing something as well...
I actually was going to proposition Doc into Cathedral or Whitehorse sometime soon. June would be nice as well. I'm free for climbing next weekend and memorial day weekend (that last one has stipulations). My June weekend is ah-taken with the Rumney Ruckus - though trad Friday is looking like a send on Whitney-Gillman at the notch.

Colaborate.

Go.

I don't get back until June 1st, so those two weekend are out for me. When is the ruckus? I'm around until June 20
The Ruckus is June 20 - 22. link

Though with enough advanced notice I can get out for the day. WMD, mid-week days may be feasable, within reason, too.

Plans are to go to N. Conway this Saturday. Going to try to make it a long day with a jaunt up Whitehorse in the morning and then Cathedral in the afternoon.

This will be my 6th(or 7th, I don't really count) time out this season. Though, it will be my first to the Mt. Washington valley. I'm taking C with me - she's progressing very well. Though not well enough to be on her own, yet. Right now I'm getting her experience outdoors; getting her experience overall.

So, I'll be out and about Saturday. Yes. My first time out this season. No.

What do you use?

Diamon Fusion.

It's a full treatment that I purchased when I bought my Trailblazer. It's a window hardening system and water repellent. Being that I got my beast in Nevada I wanted protection from flying debris on the highways while road tripping. My windshield has been hit with golf-ball-sized stones and barely a nick. It sheds water much better than Rainex too. Though the $350 price tag may be too much for some. At the time, though, it was a good investment. Partly because they back their product. I have my two largest panes of glass treated, so if ever one were to break I get a replacement for free.

I don't think anyone is too interested in bringing the DOME chair in here. You want to bring this place down to the level of Maww's cooter thread?

So, who did what this weekend?
Doc?
Art?
Mr. & Mrs. Monkey?
Mr. Epoch?

I went to a new crag I'd been wanting to visit in Maryland for the first and probably last time. There was one route I wanted to lead, but couldn't because 1.) It was sopping wet. 2.) Some toolbag resuce squad choose this, the most popular route on the cliff, route to practice belay escapes/ascending to victim scenarios. Double whammy.

So we just TR'd some semi-dry lines and belayed my friend's daughter, an adorable 6 year old. She was scrambling around pretty good, it was fun to watch.

At one point I was messing with her a little bit by telling her to "use the wet holds because the rock is super clean." She turns and looks at me for a long second, and says (stone-cold serious) "I'm smarter than that, you know."

hahaha. Good day, overall.

We also climbed on Sat. We didn't go Sunday because Bec had to work and we were both pretty beat up from Sat. My back is still really sore.

Bec got to really see firsthand what 5.12 is all about.

Its was a really nice day on Sat. Despite the forecast rain never showing up. It was almost to warm in the morning, but cooled off in the afternoon. I climbed in shorts all day. The cliff was almost completely vacant. We saw two other groups all day and never shared a section of cliff with them.

We ended up climbing in a group of three since Party Girl wanted to sleep in then couldn't find us when she showed up. It would have been nice to have had four. So we could have climbed quicker, but we still went home a little early. Mostly because of the bugs though.

Yeah, that was the one time I've climbed outside since last year. I have bumbled around on the rockwall a fair bit, but that doesn't really count too much. I guess I'll see in a couple of weeks.

Yes, most kids are indeed smarter than me. This one in particular has a huge vocabulary for her age. She reminds me of Calvin from "Calvin & Hobbes."

Yes, how could I forget Toady!? Sorry Toady.

Did Bec fire the .12s? That awesome that you guys had the place to yourselves.

The forecast was indeed screwed up (again) this weekend. I didn't plan much for Saturday due to the "rain," and went a little stir-crazy watching it get nicer and nicer. And Sunday it ended up moist when it called for sun. Go figure...

Shame on Toady for not showing up until late! I'm betting she was "hiking the Bruce trail" or something....Sly

Wow, I forgot about that guy. I've got pics of his crazy messed up ankle, but I never put them on my photo site or anything.

*sigh* looks like no NRRendezvous for me this year. I really dropped the ball on that one. I should have told them that I had planned on going to this before I was trasferred to this position, but I then I got Easter off and I sat stupid and happy about getting one long weekend. Now its too late to say anything, they're planning to instal a new station on line and I've got to be there (the Rendezvous is Victoria Day weekend in Canada).

Fuck, I hate this job.

We had a good weekend, or at least Saturday. I think both Nathan and I got really beat up sport climbing.

Had an incredible job opportunity drop into my lap just a moment ago. It's a jump to another business unit in the company, but it may just be my meal ticket out of Maine when I want. Plus it puts me full-circle into what I was doing while I was in the Navy.

I call Dibs on the recliner for evah!
This place is plenty big. I think there is room for all the regulars to have a recliner.

Before we go to nuts we should make sure all the important stuff fits in here.

Where are the lists Art?
I don't care if there is room. I just took arts recliner. He can sit on the floor. All ninjas sit on the floor don't they?
Why not sit in your recliner?
I like art's better. Besides its a good excuse for tossing him around

If that was 100% true, you'd still use mocs.

Wow!

You might be trainable yet?

You got new shoes?
Not yet. I was referring to the last time I got shoez

I didn't get up to much... still have only been on rock once since I was sick a whole year ago. I can't believe it's been almost a year since we were at the New? I wondered the other day how that guy is these days... the one who broke both ankles! Stupid boulderers!

Anyhoo... worked at the Wall a bit, climbed even less, ran a couple of miles, watched Enter the Dragon, got a bit of sun before the clouds rolled in and didn't rain! Prepared more for our Thailand trip. Climbing gear is mostly packed and almost ready to run out the door. 13 sleeps!!
I hope you're not taking more than a couple of belay devices, harness, shoes, 15-16 draws and a rope.

That lawyer-writing class comes in handy every once in a while.

Why would you put a trademark on the date?

Your lawyering skills suck.

I don't know. Roll with it.

*cutz da rope*
Try this:

Commencing and accounting on April 28, 2008 the term toolbag will be held notwithstanding to define Nate [censored], hereinafter referred as chossmonkey. This term shall be added to the list of terms commonly used to refer to chossmonkey until such time that a majority vote be taken within the electronic document known as The Lounge™ found on http://www.rockclimbing.com in the Campground forum. The afformentioned title shall only be revoked by a 2/3 majority vote which the author of said title and the reciepent of said title may not vote against.

How's that? I'm no lawyer, but I can at least understand some legaleese.

Oh, and since you're a donny, your proposed addition to the list is moot. I.E. it doesn't count.

So, who did what this weekend?
Doc?

Mr. & Mrs. Monkey?
Mr.

Climbed thursday, did the dirty hippy thing friday, climbed saturday, found an inverted no hands one foot rest, got temporarily stuck in said rest, drank at a bar with a midget on staff, and studied and recovered from the hangover on sunday.
Good weekend.

Which of the above things was a hallucination?

You're climbing heaps, Doc. Lucky bugger!

None of them are hallucinations, although the blood did rush to my head for a while when i got stuck in my no hands rest.
