Its been a busy and shitty day. Fridays normally have the most boring meetings that have nothing to do with me.

Why would you want to go to a class on how to screw up access and loose your crag?

Wink

Keep your chin up, it will get better soon. Have a beer or 12 on your new deck!
Its a course put on by the Texas Parks so people can do voluntary guiding. And maybe for Rob.

I see
What are you up to this weekend?
I did some bouldering today. I bet I got in about an imperial ton in two hours. Maybe not though. My truck was really squatting. I should have got a trailer to take with so I could have got more. There was one hugey I wanted to get, but we were having a hell of a time moving it to get it in the truck. I have to unload them myself at home, so I decided against it. I still got 9 way to heavy for me to lift boulders plus a bunch of smaller ones.

Tomorrow if it isn't raining we are going climbing. If it does rain maybe we will go get more boulders.

Did you wear a beenie?
No

I forgot to take one with.

It wasn't very cold anyway.

Today was cold. I wore a hat. I was wishing I had wore long underwear.

Well, you can't boulder without a beenie. Shocked

Is that what I've been doing wrong? Damn. No Beenie while bouldering.... gues my old school bandana hippy hat just doesn't give me the bouldering pow'ah of da beenie.

fuckin rain.

All the weather predictions I read for Saturday, as well as the weather on Saturday said that it would be cloudy with a chance of rain in the evening. We were driving at 6 AM and it starts pouring. I was a bit over half-way there. So, I did what any respectable climber would do.

I turned the fuck around and went home. I grabbed the rest of my rack (I take only what is needed for a given area) and head 1 hour in the opposite direction to do some Maine coast climbing, where we had a wonderful day.

It started raining, too, though only after we made it back to the trailhead in the afternoon. Drove 5 hours to make it to the area that is 47 minutes from my house. We should have went to Acadia.

Fuckin Rain...

Fuckin' Rain. At least it wasn't hail.

I didn't build the front step.

I put chicken wire around the perimeter of the deck and buried it to hopefully keep them out of under there.

But getting back to our conversation about bodies, I think Doc might have been right. A while back I could smell this skunky nastiness in our basement. I think it might have been the skunks under the step.

I have heard that the only thing stinkier than a skunk is a dead skunk.

My cousin ran over a Skunk with her Camaro a number of years ago... ended up dragging the stink rodent a few hundered meters down the road (lower ground clearence). It was a damn hot summer that year too, and no amount of engine degreaser could get the smell away, especially when the engine warmed up.Crazy

I've told this tale before, but I'll share it again.

When I was young, growing up on a ranch, we had tons of ranch-cats. Near-feral things, we would feed them on the front porch in exchange for them keeping the local mouse population somewhat under control.

One afternoon approaching winter solstice as the days grew shorter, my older sister was just arriving home from school. Coming up the steps to the porch, she reached down to pet one of the cats eating from the cat food bowl. Of course, this was not one of the cats, but in the early evenind dusk that she didn't realize this until it stiffened it's back legs and released an immense cloud of pungent stuff.

It took several gallons of tomato juice to clean her and the front porch up to the point that it wouldn't make your eyes water.

The only thing she can really say about it after all these years is "Skunks? Yeah, I petted one. Once."
My story's better. Yours is too long
Better how? Not sure I'd go about bragging about the awful fish smell coming from the back seat, nor the maggots festering in its pool of juices.

Yes, yes. We need details aside from the rainy day story.
trad tuesday is tomorrow. I'm stoked.

I want a Trad tuesday.

I did have a new route Saturday though. Enjoyed all 145m of it. Would have been completely hooped without pins. Fucked up one of my KB's though Mad. Damn twisted limestone cracks... mind you it wasn't over driven, tied off actually and was likely my best piece in the top half of the first pitch.

Pics, when I find the sync cord for my camera.
From what I've observed, any talk of actual climbing should not be happening within this thread.

Probably some little china fisherman who then shipped them to Canada frozen where I bought them in a bag already filleted

It was a good game. I didn't get to watch any of the regulation game, but I got to see all 4 OT periods. And now we play Snoop's Wings starting Thursday. That's going to be a really tough series.

Ok, he wasn't psyched, obviously, but he understood. He offerred to let me work from home (Maine), but I think understands that I want to move on.

He said he'd give me a great recommendation and I could come back if I wanted, so that was pretty great.

Thats disgusting. Similar thing happened to me, but it was a bag of frozen fish that defrosted in the back of our van. Didn't realize the juice had run down into some grooves. One week later, we were on our way to Nova scotia and the smell kept getting worse and worse. Our first stop in QB I looked for the source of the smell and found thousands of maggots swimming in this fish liquid. I gagged the whole time I was cleaning it up.

bruce wrote:
I'm not the woman. You clean it up!

I couldn't make him clean it up. I was the airhead who left the bag of fish in the hot vehicle.
But who caught the fish and brought them home?

Probably some little china fisherman who then shipped them to Canada frozen where I bought them in a bag already filleted

Someone hit the racist button.

We can pretend to worry, but we all know we really don't care.

Wait!

Doesn't Art care?
No

You're here. Guess that means you didn't crater.
Good climb?

You're a dumbass.
Don't feed the troll douchebag.
I'm not hungry, thank yhou.

I did spend the weekend down in the Creek (again), so I'm missing several large patches of skin on the hands/forearms/elbows.

I wish my crack technique were as good as your posting technique.

I hear that Scarface will tear you a new one.
In this case, I was foolish enough to get on the sharp end of the Serrator. WTF was I thinking?!?

december 7, 2009. yeah. that's the day i live for. It'll be like pearl harbor, all over again.

Is that the date you will be able to start planning to drink scotch in the Canadian alpine?
Not exactly. It's the day I will be able to free partake of another great thing from Canada though.

The scotch date will be some time after that.

I can arrange for both to be in the Bugaboo's or the Elderid Valley for the summer you cross the boarder.
You're on.

Wonder how long it's going to take me to jump through the RCMP hoops to cross the border the first time.

There won't be a second, if I have anything to say about it.

Nothing a box of Twinkies won't fix!

...oh wait... that's coming the other direction.

I agree. Especially when you have to pay back a sports debt. Like I did this weekend. Although it was fun getting him back. I stuffed my Bruins jersey with towels and put it in his bed with a note "sleeping with the enemy" After the habs loss on Sat it was perfect.

Thanks for putting it at the end, asshat.

Has anybody else noticed that Canadians suck at playing hockey?
Your'e welcome. And wtf are you talking about? The entire nhl is saturated with canadian hockey players. You ever heard of Gretzky or Crosby?
Well maybe the shouls apply the Canadian content laws to hockey teams.

Its a good thing hockey isn't Canada's national sport.

A bunch of 5.7-8ish stuff. My partner wanted to do most of the leading, so I only led one OW suckfest just to humble them.

That was yesterday. I'm about to go kayak part of a river this morning, and then classes in the afternoon.
I wish my life were that simple again.

But noooooo. I'm on my way out from my desk to do work. It's too feggin early. Then more work at my desk (which will probably be replaced with mah bed at home, since I am super tired and have a headache).

Yeah it is great to be young and free of responsibilities.

Doc, you gave me some bad beta. Sound like its more the incisions that'll cause problems with getting my hardware out, and I should be able to sit in a harness in maybe less than a month after surgery (taking ALL the hardware out).

I'm okay with not leading, I just didn't want to stop climbing altogether for multiple months.

They'll call me when it gets closer to surgery date. Though it might take up to a year Pirate.

Good on doing the offwidth. Maybe that will counter being the subman

Yes. It also looks like I'm also on the list to have my tear duct reconnected to drain back into my nose. That'll be in 4 to 6 months. I'm really excited about the idea of not having a drippy eye anymore.

Its an Aussie marriage ritual.

The man goes and lives in the wild for two years and when he comes back if he still has a wife it was meant to be.

Since there is no outback in the States Texas is the next best thing.

I envy you your 4. Tha's gonna be one bizzy afternoon/evening/morning/afternoon I'm gonna say.

It's going to be a fairly busy next few days, but I'm mainly packed. My motivation the last day has been shot.... all I can think about is going on vacation and seeing my wife. Getting there will be an interesting 24 hours. I reckon I'm ready!

Just imagine the 24 hours after you meet up with your wife!!Laugh

I'm sure you've answered this question about a billion times, but why are you separate from her in the first place?

Depends what you're looking for. Australian outback has more mallee, dingos and witchity grubs. Texas outback has more mesquite, roadrunners and tacos.

FISH tacos?

Mmmmm...

My favorite fish tacos ever were from this little taco stand right next to the liquor store in downtown Santa Barbara.

The one sign read, in big bold letters

"LIQUOR"

The other sign read in little bold letters

"tacos"

my two favorite things, all rolled into one!TongueSly

Ok, he wasn't psyched, obviously, but he understood. He offerred to let me work from home (Maine), but I think understands that I want to move on.

He said he'd give me a great recommendation and I could come back if I wanted, so that was pretty great.

Not really. I could probably make it work, but it wouldn't really be fair to him, plus I want to have some time untethered while I still can. That's what I've been working toward. He's already found a new guy to bring in, it looks like, so that is good news.

Plus, I was never super psyched writing technical reports. It wasn't a bad first job, but it's not something I want to keep doing. So, time to climb a ton, then time to figure out what to do next...

Want to start a business?Wink

Of course I'm not sharing all of them! Besides, we won't have a proper tan for a couple of days. But we will be taking hundreds and thousands of pickies for sure! Gotta love the digital age.

I hope you packed some good sunscreen.

Early season tanning is tricky. It normally takes me a while to get a good base tan so I won't get burnt on the worst days.

You Aussies and your silly words!

I was listening to something on the radio about how common words in one culture are profane in others. One story was about these three sisters who where in England I think, and they were discussing how to tell them apart. One said she was easy to tell apart because she had the biggest fanny.Laugh

Yes, dunnies can get quite agitated when they don't perform well the first time.
You Aussies and your silly words!

I was listening to something on the radio about how common words in one culture are profane in others. One story was about these three sisters who where in England I think, and they were discussing how to tell them apart. One said she was easy to tell apart because she had the biggest fanny.Laugh

LMAO!! And that's the funniest common word profanity of them all! Laugh Classic!

Adds new meaning for us to the popular accessory, the Fannypack!

I hope you packed some good sunscreen.

Early season tanning is tricky. It normally takes me a while to get a good base tan so I won't get burnt on the worst days.

Well, we both have somewhat decent base-tans already luckily. Should be bronzed in no time! Wink

I meant from my list, toolbag.
I deleted the first couple as a peace offering, which you threw in my face.

I'm going to not add that as a peace offering to get our lists deleted.

Well, things to do. Someone should PC++ today and rack up a few man-sized pages for the weekend.

What is everyone doing for the weekend?

Art?
Doc?
Mr. Mrs. Monkey?
Obssessed?
Snoop?
Sty?
Epoch?

Is that everyone?

I'm working on Sunday. Right now I feel guilty that I didn't call a vender to arrange for them to come in on Sunday, but I don't really understand what they would be doing, how I would need to help, and I have another job of much higher priority that I need to do. There were three out comes here:
1) I call the vender, get the low priority job done, but don't have enough time for my high priority job.
2) I don't call the vender and I concentrait on my high priority job.
3) I call the vender, he doesn't actually need any help from me, both jobs get done.

So 1) people get really cranky 'cause I don't get my big job done. In 2) they get a little cranky 'cause the smaller job doesn't get done, and there's a better chance I get to go home early. 3) No one would get angry at me, but I wouldn't actually get any thanks either.

Hmmm, I'm starting to see that my reward structure at this company is a rather negative one....do good and you won't have anyone get cranky at you. Okay, I'm starting to feel a little less guilty, though I'm not looking forward to the upcoming conversation about my weekend work here.

Well, unless you are familiar with naval architecture you may not understand...

In 2003 while securing a hatch aboard my ship I slipped and was pinned between the hatch and the deck. The action of me grabbing the hatch as I began my fall down the trunk kept me from a 20 foot fall, but pinned me between an 80lb hatch and the raised lip that makes a seal for the hatch. 4 hours on a backboard and several x-rays and MRIs later I was released with orders to watch myslef. Nothing broke, but things were a bit out of whack.

I get flare ups occasionally, this one was caused by a lead fall at the gym. I'll not be leading for a week or so because of it.

The doc confirmed that my muscles were agitated, but since he is unfamiliar with climbing it took a while to explain what happened. He kept assuming that I hit the ground.

I was given Naproxyn and Flexoral. 20 minutes after taking the Flexoral, I was numb to the world. C said that I didn't move one bit from the time I passed out last night until I woke this morning. I know I didn't move, because I was in the same position I was in when I passed out.

Well that answers the question in my PM to you. So you guys are heading to Nemo on Sat then? Its my wedding anniversary tomorrow. I'm going climbing Crazy Do you think thats inconsiderate? We are going to celebrate today anyway. Both of us are off and we are heading to Niagara Falls to have some public area sex and have dinner.

I do distinctly remember the look on the face of the guy who was with me. Something that was routine for both of us immediately turned into an emergency. He didn't know what to do. I calmly told him to call for help to get me out. The look on everyone's face as they saw me was priceless. Though I'm sure the look of me squashed there was not a good one. I was bruised for 4 - 5 weeks.

I'm still super impressed with it. When I first hooked it up it seemed like it would have a hard time flushing piss. Its hard to believe it is only a liter and a half of water it uses. And you rarely need to double flush.
