Incorrect, I did not go for PT200 as we know there is nothing special about it. I did however go for PC5k. I know, it seems trivial, but yore forgetting the meager post count of this thread.

Fuck I hate government websites and call centers.

Nothing but a big runaround with no useful information.

You can't find it on the site because it is not there, don't bother calling. Cause they will just tell you it is all on the website. Or that they don't know.

Fuckin' eh!!!

That guy is going to burn through his whole gas budget and only hit three places. All before the month is up.

I don't drive a gas guzzler. I made it up on just over 1.5 tanks.

I didn't drive to TM, my pal did. No gas there.

I'm still under budget, too. not paying for camping and free food helps.
Even when gas was under a dollar a gallon and I drove a smallish car it was still always the biggest expense.

BTW..

We are just slinging shit.

That you are. Don't pay any attention WMD. They are all just really really jeluz that you are on the road and they are NOT!!
Wow!

Holey crap! Is insurance covering it all?

A tree feel on the powerlines going into my parent's house a few years ago with similar results (no surge protector). It seemed pretty random what was totally blown, and what wasn't (I think the fridge and the TV were okay, but the portable phones and computer were fried).

I know I am GU;ing cuz I explained to you in person. I am guesstimating the claim to be over $10g's at the moment.

O_o Whoah! We barely ever even get a wee bit of lightning here, but getting your house hit by it???

You also "barely ever even get a wee bit of" sun in rainy haggis land.
LMFAO. it's true. First sunny morning in ages today, look out the window and everything is soaked from the pouring rain last night. It's pissing it down ATM.

Dayum, I would diez if I didn't getz to see dee sun. I hate rain a whole lot now, I can't imagine getting it all teh time.
It gets pretty depressing.
The worst part is there were two days of perfect weather last week, a fine wind, nice and sunny, and I had 16 hour shifts both days.
FUCK!

Fark, that is gaytoid to the maximum. No wonder you so damn crazy.
Oh shit. is this donny still here?

WOW!

I've seen tower sites that have been hit before, and the towers are built knowing that they're going to get hit eventually. I can hardly imagine all that destruction concentrated in a fucking HOUSE!

...still... wow.
yep, thinking about buying a ligtening rod. Apparently this area has had a 20% increase in lightening storms this year. global warming sucks

Let's be serious, there are others on the list before me.
Just check out the "post count increaser" thread.
Or maybe they was good little boys and stayed over there?
ANyways, and more importantly (I can take a shot in the face), salmoneering.
I tried it properly today- it was awesome.
I went for the less swiming more climbing option of trying to traverse the whole way whilst it was possible, but fell in a few times resulting in some funky semi-rapid swimming and a *haggisdonny shitz his pants in fear!* jump over a waterfall.
The end result?
A new sport is born! Spread the word, but let's keep this old new style semi-secret: we don't want posers making it all mainstream, and if the word "shizzle" is ever used in reference to it I will shitz pants in rage.

so this morning was something a little different... unsettling and downright alarming.

I was in bed, sleeping as normal as could be, when sometime around sunrise, I ended up having two of some kind of seizure, within minutes of each other.

One of my roommates who witnessed the event called 911, a few minutes later some medical guys showed up and assessed my situation, then recommended I check into the hospital and get examined ASAP. The roomie drove me to the ER to get checked out, which after a CT scan and blood/urine samples, was inconclusive as to the cause, other than it's not caused by some sort of brain tumor.

The Dr. there referred me to a neurologist to get some further testing done, informing me that until I'm cleared by the Neurologist not only should I not drive, but that were I to do so I would be violating the law. This means no work for the next week, as driving is an integral part of getting stuff done.

Upon reflection, I can only be happy that the seizures hit me while I was sleeping, rather than some time driving down the road, or perhaps soloing on some of the local routes as I have a tendency to do

Oh yeah, and somewhere in there during the seizures I bit the fuck outta my tounge... it hurts like a BITCH!

Damn man, that sucks.

Do some research, and get multiple second opinions.
I had a friend who was having some sort of siezures. Multiple neuro exams, doc appointments, money, time... no explanation. Lost his license for months. Not to mention the emotional stress.

His G.P. finally decided to do some routine bloodwork. Turned out he was just mildly diabetic and simply had to monitor his nutritional intake. Siezures went away, he's been fine ever since.

so this morning was something a little different... unsettling and downright alarming.

Bummer.

I here there is a certain "medication" that can ease seizures. Hopefully they didn't permabanz you from driving. They are ghey like that. Bec had her license suspended after her accident and she didn't even have a fair assessment. It was a pain in the ass to get it back. Hopefully your doctor didn't actually report you.

That guy is going to burn through his whole gas budget and only hit three places. All before the month is up.
it's gonna be one short road trip.
Correct.

Shorter than mine?
That would suck if it was
Actually, even if WMD fell on a boyscout's path today I think he trip has already been longer than Docs (unless you count Doc's time in the hospital).
Maybe we should start a pool?
Maybe we could just use L'habitant's?
Didn't you pee in her pool?
I'd pee in her pool.
Are you coming onto me doc? Wink

Nope. Just stating my unquenchable desire to matriculate in your pool.
You think the pool pissers did this?

Have you gotten any notice that you're no allowed to drive? I'm not sure if verbal commands are enough. Not that its a good idea to drive right now regardless.

I hope you didn't get the paperwork to tell you you can't drive. I went though all that crap, it still took months after seeing the neurologist to have all the paperwork go through and get my license back. It sucked.

If the doctor says you shouldn't be driving you really shouldn't. If the paperwork hasn't and won't be filed you can consider yourself lucky.

In other news I realized last night during physio what the date was yesterday. Its been two years since my accident.

Seems crazy. In a lot of ways I've come a long long way, in other ways I feel I should have come futher. One thing that does suck is that I'm stuck at the same fucking job. Its a lot more interesting this year, but a lot of days too stressful. Yeah, its been a bad week at work.

That is directed towards Ax Murderer.

I figured that.

What are you wanting to order?
6" glue-ins.

I thought that might be it. He mentioned a while back that some guy from Onterio was inquiring about ordering 6" Glue in bolts. I'm assuming that was you.

Yeah, they do, but sales have fallen since they gained alien-status after the revolution.

well, this has been an interesting week to say the least.

it has been somewhat surreal since last Wednesday morning, i have felt at times like I imagine someone with a brain injury might feel I suppose. The recall is getting better, though there are still blank spots in the memory. I'm hoping that this Wednesday's appointment might shed some light on a few things.

Geo departed for Glacier NP and points north this morning with her girlfriends and their cumulative 1ea children. Hope she has a good trip up thattaway, they already had to deal with a flat tire on the rented Suburban, but it seems they were back underway within an hour, so it wasn't anything the grrls couldn't handle.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during that trip.

Too bad I can't cross the Canadanz border, else I'd have probably taken the time off from work to see the countryside. Pirate

....yes.... we have Christmas in summer!
Detergent?

Like dish soap?

Just water worked pretty good. Perhaps it was the only way your mother could get you to bathe?

At 1623m soap isn't needed as the air has started to thin enough to negate the need for artificial enhancement of the slide. You used direct aid on your slip-n-slide, heathon.

I don't have a slip'n'slide, and if I did, it would live in the garage.
Who needs a slip'n'slide when you got a set of semi-rapids right next door? Woo!
The soap was a memory from my friend chris' house, way back in the day.

No FA's for me this weekend either. We were workign on a new route though. Got up the first 70m, then started a variation to take advantage of better rock to the left of the original line. I was almost 20m out on the lead from the anchors when a big ass thunder boomer started showering the peaks on the other side of the Bow Valley with a massive electrical show. Given that we could tell exactly which peaks and damn near how many meters from the summit the lighting was hitting we decided that it was prudent to get the fuck outta there! So far the route goes at 5.8, with protection being a mix of trad gear and a few bolts to reduce 50 foot runouts.

Looking forward to getting back on the bitch.

Saturday wasn't bad. I got to check out the next climb I'm thinking of projecting up there. I should have gotten on my old (sent) project too, but I was lazy and didn't want to have to hang the draws.

Oh, and I did a lot of falling which was some good mental training.

This is going to sound like a coffee shop bitch, but I worked all fucking weekend.
never hear you bitch about it when you get two days off mid-week though do we?

Nah, but the last day off i had was wednesday two weeks ago.
well that does suck then. I hope they're compensating you well for not having a life, either that or letting you bank your days off.

banking days is a personal favorite. to a point.

Yeah to a point. My Bro has something stupid on the order of 40 days banked, but has been screwed on every day off for the past 6 months. He's oncall on his days off and has to be within 1 hour of work at those times. About once a month he's able to get back to town to get his banking and whatnot done, then has to rush back out to the boonies. They're really understaffed... he's a Fish Biologist forking for the Government, so no real hope of them actually spending the money on trying to find more staff let alone paying more people to work.

I figured that.

What are you wanting to order?
6" glue-ins.

I thought that might be it. He mentioned a while back that some guy from Ontario was inquiring about ordering 6" Glue in bolts. I'm assuming that was you.
That wasn't me.

Though I did already answer this post the otherday and it was promptly deleted.

What did he say about them?

He was surprisd that tehy couldn't be ordered in Ontario. Mentioned something about the shipping costs driving up the price a bit, shipping to him, then to Ontario. Said he could do it, but thought it might be cheaper ordering from a shop in Ontario.
After all is said and done he wouldn't end up making any money off of it. I know some of the gear he's ordered in for me he hasn't made a penny at the end of the day, but if I'm ordering something in it typically is somethign noone else can get in (or will go to the effort to get), and I tend to spray about gear when it turns out to be kick ass. Which can be pretty good word of mouth adverts for him.

Hopefully some of the gear I ordered will be in soon, if I get down there this week I'll ask him about the glue-ins. Drop Binrat a line and see when he's coming out west again. We could look into if there would be any cost savings with getting them ordered, me picking them up and Binrat driving them back to Ontario. Just a thought.

I'm going to MN next month and I could just have them shipped to my mom's.

The shops here suck, there is MEC and um a new MEC coming in the future. I guess there is a place in Waterloo, but I don't know if they would order. There is no place close. They are all more than an hour.

Yeah I am not exactly being compensated for most of this work right now. It's the internship portion of my paramedic program, plus 12-24 hours a week of actual paid work. The only thing I get to look forward to is about a $10 dollar raise once I am all licensed and such.

Yeah, but when you are making decent money and only working 12 days a month you won't be complaining.

You have a bit of a point there. Especially if I find a quieter service and work 2 24 hour shifts per week.

well, i guess you can be sure that until that point they'll squeeze you for every minute you've not got. Once you qualify for the serious OT rate they'll be playing a different tune I'll bet.

Did you hear how much those glue-ins would be from Wicked Gravity? If I order them from Fixe they would be just over $11 a piece including shipping if I just get 5, and just under $10 if I get 10. Right now I only need 4, but if I add any more routes I'll probably need a few more.

I'd like to know where MEC gets their Fixe stuff from. They are way cheaper than buying them from Fixe in the States.

Maybe I should just get some really long 1/2 mech bolts? I wanted the glue-ins for lower visual impacts as well as the better stength in choss though.

wish this had come to light a little sooner. Geo's headed up thattaway for a little personal R&R as we speak, she prob'ly could have included the bolts into her "camping" gear and dropped them somewhere in BC. Now, although i'm not entirely certain where her itinerary will be taking her, I'm sure something could have been done to avoid the taxes. Wink

I'll ask dave what he figures the cost per bolt would be next time at his shop.

MEC has a better price for the same reason that DDM gear is cheaper there than in Wales, despite the fact it is made there. They buy in huge volume. I would susspect that MEC isn't really concered on making money on botl sales. That would keep their price down, and would also explain why they have shit for selection these days.

They are more worried about what sells the most. Which is why they have less than 1/4 the selection in climbign gear than they used to, and why their selection is boots is SHITE! All they have in hikign boots are the ones that would fall apart in less than a year if I was wearing them.
Not to mention their staff are fucking retards. One of my partners was tryign on mountian boots (so he would know what size to order at a different shop) and the girl kept trying to sell him approach shoes claiming "they are raelly good for climbing". Then she was confused when he said they needed to be crampon compatable, and have enough support to carry a week's worth of supplies over areas without an established trail.... so she broght out a pair of "day hikers" with a higher ankle. He left.

This is going to sound like a coffee shop bitch, but I worked all fucking weekend.
never hear you bitch about it when you get two days off mid-week though do we?

WTF?Crazy

I never knew time was life-and-death being a fish biologist.
At last, he realized the depth of his ignorance.

I think it's more of a matter that he realizes the extent of his student debt.

I was speaking metaphorically about e-kops lack of knowledge of the breeding habits of the rare canadian fish biologist

Would you like to, then, expand for us the breeding cycle of the Canadian Brown Trout? Since you, apparently, seem so well adept to the knowledge of such intricate details of the operation that would preclude a man from taking vacation at his own leisure.

wish this had come to light a little sooner. Wink
Shipping stuff in Canada is as bad or worse than the taxes.

I think just picking it up in MN would be the easiest, cheapest thing to do. I have to go back there anyway.

MEC has a better price for the same reason that DDM gear is cheaper there than in Wales, despite the fact it is made there. They buy in huge volume. I would susspect that MEC isn't really concered on making money on botl sales. That would keep their price down, and would also explain why they have shit for selection these days.
The only thing MEC doesn't have cheaper prices on than in the States are Sportiva and Petzl.

What is this rubber holder you speak of? Clarify, please.

At any rate, I love it in Squamish! If my friends don't come and/or the valley is closed, I'd stay until early sept. It will probably still be pretty hot in Cali....especially if everything is literally burning up.

OTOH, everything (everything) is insane expensive up here.
