Paramedicine does not pay nearly well enough for the hours involved, and I can be a student and make the same amount of $$ going to school full time as working 30 hours a week. Part time paramedic here I stay. A cunning plan...

Then, turn that interesting climbing hobby of yours into a paying venture to fill the rest of the time. You could then, reasonably, make a decent wage 4 seasons a year and always have a fall-back when the economy goes bust an no one can afford to go climbing. Works for several guides that I know. Get the flight certification and wilderness certification and head to a world-class destination to live out the good life. Or, use that medical quallification along with the military time and experience earned and apply for a GS position within the park service (law enforcement, climbing ranger, etc). You'd be, what, 4/5 years closer to retirement and live in a stellar location and be able to recreate outside of your doorstep. ... I'm just say'n.

How retardedly crowded do you think rumney is going to be during this noreaster festival that EMS is sponsoring. I'm debating going to that, or avoiding it like the plague. Right now I am leaning towards the avoidance idea, but I am up in NH that weekend anyway.

Devils Tower has a full time climbing Ranger except in winter. I'd bet all the bigger parks have the same. I don't think it pays the best, but you get paid to climb.
