Lactic Acid Bath at the New River Gorge I climbed a route called "Diaper Rash" here in AZ and pulled off a softball-sized handhold right on the top of my head. Ouch. Diaper Rash...I should have known better. Climb Hard. --Eric

Quote: All bolder problems are groundfalls... thereis no X in the rating, or there is always an (implied) X in the rating... depends on how you look at it. Good point, 'cause the fall from the top of So High (35') hurts about the same as the fall from the top of Gunsmoke (3')... though for Planet X I think broken ankles is probably the most likely outcome of missing or not having a pad. dumbsh*t. josh

I'm kind of scared of any climb that has the word "easy" in it. Hamburger Crack - its at Vedauwoo so it refer to the condition of your hands after the climb. Perilous Journey - big understatement on Mickey Mouse Wall

There aren't even route names here where I climb. They are only 25 foot TR climbs though. But my friend and I found one and called it "nut buster" We couldn't get past the first move so we propped up a log against the rock to step on. Well the log was slippery. One leg went to the left and one went to the right. had the log been 2 inches higher I would still be in extreme pain.

Beethoven Boy - the mountain you refer to is Olympus Mons, on Mars. Tallest mountain in the solar system at any rate. 80,000 feet from base to summit. Unfortunately, its got about the same steepness as most of Kansas (the thing is almost the size of Texas).

ton-ton makout, my project that it seems i may never send, is named after the haitian secret police who, to torture transgressors, ring the victim's head with a car tire, then light it on fire...slow, painful way to check out.

And back to Frog Buttress we have Nemesis an offwidth crack which has claimed more than one victim, we`re talking broken backs, skull fractures and other assorted paraplegia. But then there`s also Juggernaut, another offwidth monster which strikes fear into the hearts of the mighty as they gaze up into its open maw. ...Phil...

I'm surprised that I didn't see "Holdless Horror" - Tuolumne; Dozier Dome in the list. The name is intimidating, but the climb is anything but. It's just the opposite of the name, lots of knobs and a crack you can sew up if you like lots of protection. The Tuolumne guide I have lists it at 5.7, but supertopo lists it at 5.6. Lots of fun. ...and how about route names which SOUND all nice and cuddly but turn out to be a horror show? Something like "Soft 'n' Fuzzy (5.5)" that wasn't. Got any of those?

Not really *scary*, but with a name like; Worst Route in the Rockies.. and the description that starts off with.. "This aptly named route.." It doesn't see a lot of action.

George Hurley's route Slimor on Crag Y. I quote from the guidebook: "When every route on the crag is soaking wet, you might as well climb Slimor."

I remember a boulder problem in Cradle Rock that had you stemming up this steep/slabby scoop. The route was named Granite Enema for the 3 foot tall spike of rock residing in the fall zone.

In reply to: Not really *scary*, but with a name like; Worst Route in the Rockies.. and the description that starts off with.. "This aptly named route.." It doesn't see a lot of action. If you climb up here ... it is very intimidating. Also from the rockies: "The bolt nazi" No bolts for you! "Die young, stay pretty" Too late for me "Forbidden Corner" Verboten! "Mean mistreater" "Rubble without a cause" "Trap line" It is easy to escape ... honest! "Stretcher case"

The Obituary (grade 14) in the Blue Mountains. A lovely crack climb with a scary name. Unfortunately a bloke died on it a few weeks back after he hit the deck.

...and from overseas: "Rectum Dei" at Vaelseroed in Bohuslaen, Sweden (the world's hardest 5.5, which is more like 5.9) "I Killed Christ with My Big Fu!@ing D!ck" at Uddeuddsberget, Stockholm, Sweden (maybe not a scary route name, but definitely a tasteless one). "Vi vet var ni bor" ("We know where you live"), Stockholm, Sweden "Metal in the Head", Stockholm, Sweden "Mina kulor - din haka" ("My balls - your chin"), Stockholm, Sweden - sort of sets the imagination going, doesn't it? I won't bore you with more. Cheers!

Most of the routes in Hell cave or the eldiablo wall.... I don't know if these have already been mentioned because i didn't bother reading through the 7 pages of this thread but theres: Burning, El Diablo, El Malvado, Hell, Cannibals, Dead souls, Cop killer, The blight, reaching for razors and others... Other intimidating route names, both up LCC, Tingey's terror(scary ass unprotected friction slab traverse on pitch three?) Tingey's torture, cranial impact. The name dorsal finn scares me...(for all you Locals on here you know what i mean if you climb LCC)

In reply to: In reply to: Slymenstra Hymen Looks like somebody's a GWAR fan. I met her once. I suppose she's scary. Just watch out when she's swinging her 3 foot tampon. Here's a pic: http://www.slaughterhouse2k.com/gfsly10.jpg Yeah, I am a huge Gwar fan. Thanks for the picture.
