Good week in Josh for me, but didn't get much done climbing wise. Did some fun dinky stuff, did a choosy gordon route, saw some folks, had some fun. Did the karaoke at the Josh saloon. Did a day at NJC but didn't get on anything hard.

Haven't used a computer for over a week I think, just been reading on the phone.

Don't you want to wait until you're actually weeded to give up on yourself?

Yeah, I am scary, really scary! and dangerous.

Add crazy and reckless to the list? (true story: So, Banz and I are hanging out at our motel in the evening, when someone knocks at the door. I get up, and open the door. It turns out to be a guy with some fresh towels, bc they ran out earlier in the day. Great, right? I say thank you, take the towels, close the door... And then I get a chewing-out from Banz, because, apparently it was a reckless and dangerous thing, and i should have just ignored the knock, bc what if it was some psycho killer?
Seriously? SO I joke and tell him, I counted on him to protect me, and he's like, what do you think I could have done, if there was a guy with the gun there?

I am still shaking my head, but maybe he is right? I mean, I was ready to go hang out with that guy we met bouldering at JT, when he invited us over to his place, and I would have gone, if Heffe didn't get all weird about it, as if the guy was going to be a serial killer... Bc it was the same thing, I joked and said, what do you think he would do to us? And Heffe was like, he could do lots of things, and i can't protect you...)

Anyway, reckless and all, but I don't mind the hour-long slog, as long as I know about it ahead of time. Sandbagging me and telling me that it is a 10min hike when it is more like 45 min is definitely a recipe for a long whining session, duration proportionate to sandbagging factor.

So it's full on Snowma-fucking-gedon up here.

We'll start with my journey to my car this morning. My little path had drifted in last night. Yesterday I had snow maybe mid calf, this morning it was mid thigh as I waded through to get to the parking lot.

Of course, they didn't plow the lot last night and I almost got stuck getting out of the driveway into the street. The main streets we re clear, but I decide to go my regular path, which included trying to get up the escarpment in second gear (I almost did get stuck). Then down a side road that hadn't been plowed (should have gotten stuck).

The final strech was awesome. Blowing snow with almost no visability. It was at this point I was wondering why I was going to work. Biggest fear was running into one of the snow banks and not getting back out.

Cafateria staff didn't come in today, but they're giving out free tea and coffee to the people that came in. It's pretty dark in there because the snow has drifted up against the floor to ceiling windows and only the top half is letting in light.

Looking for some photos of the snow online, but they haven't seemed to show up yet. It might be because of the polar bear in a snow strom quality of anything that people are going to snap photos of though.

Damn! That's a lot to drive through.

My Taco Truck is in the church parking lot at the base of the big hill that leads up to my house, since there was no way it was going to get up. Probably will walk to go get it tomorrow when temps get warmer, but for today I'm just staying in the house all day reading.

Friend just posted a photo of her dryway on facespace. Keep in mind that I'm sure that the cars were probably clean of snow last night.

Drifting snow is a bitch!

I think they's on the Lake Huron side of the peninsula instead of the Geogian Bay side, so they may have been hit a little harder, but this reminds me of my walk to my car this morning.

I wouldn't have bothered to drive through THAT. Your work ethics is better than mine.

I was all ho-hum about the snowpocalypse and cold snap of the century warnings... until my power went off in the middle of the night.

Holy shit! I am not sure exactly what time it went off, but the furnace was running continuously all day and into the night, and barely keeping the house temps around 65. Still, 65 is plenty nice, I wasn't complaining...

Anyway, I woke up at 3a.m. bc of the absence of the furnace noise. And realized that the power was out. Checked the breakers, just to be sure it wasn't that, and called in the power outage report. Looked at the thermostat, and the temp at that point was 52F. So I opened the faucets to drip, threw extra blankets and sleeping bags on top of the kids, and figured it will be fixed soon.

By 6 a.m., when the power came back, the temp in the house was 41F. Not bad under blankets, but getting up was a bitch. It's up to 55F now, positively balmy. One of the pipes froze, anyway. Ugh.

Left work early. They have closed all the county roads, so unless you live in town you can't get home. Figured I better get out while the getting was good.

Now I'm just rotting on the internet with a cat on my laps.

I'm actually pretty impressed with this town. Yup, there's a snow storm. Let's close down the town, hunker down for the night and we'll carry on tomorrow.

The pipes for the apartment on the 3rd floor have apparently froze. Mine are still okay, but after they froze last year I have a space heater in the crawl space in the basement and another one in mt bathroom above it.
