Serously, I can't imagine why someone would go out and do that kind of shit in those temps and wind conditions.

Yeah, I saw the accident write-up and thought of that, too. Really sad.

Are you going to play that youtube for gf, next time she suggests backcountry skiing in negative Fs?

hahaha, worst cheesetit evar! Got my morning social media copy&pastes mixed up.

Should have been this link:
http://www.bostonglobe.com/...acet_Related_Article

Though that video was pretty rad too.
Although, the first video did seem (in)appropriate, given the circumstances.

Would have been even more so if it had incorporated the final frozen Jack scene from The Shining.

Well getting back into climbing training has been an absolute failure since I've gotten back. I'm working too much, not sleeping enough and now I think I'm sick.

It also helped quite a bit of have a specific goal for what I was training for. Yes, I want to climb well this summer, but that's way to general to get me training when I'm not in the mood. IWC was good to keep me going.

Not that I train but sometimes I find it nice to just take a few weeks off from climbing. Kinda recharge the batteries, give the old body bag and those tiny injuries a chance to rest.

I also find it hard to stay motivated without some sort of goal/project. I sent my last one too quick. If it actually cools off though maybe jail will be back in.

I agree with you, but I'd rather fill my time with fun stuff rather than work. Summer time, I would just be putting tons of mileage on my bike, but being winter I'm just feeling fat and lazy (and yes, I think I have put on weight over the last three weeks, fuck!).

+1 on taking couple weeks off. I never used to do it, but now that I am doing the Manderson cycles, I do (took 2 weeks off after I came back from the winter break trip, before starting the cycle) and it is actually really good.

It's a mental break, as much as physical -- after coming home from a trip, there are so many things to do, and you are jet-lagged, and stuff piled up at work... just giving yourself permission to not even worry about training fir couple weeks feels good. And you are more psyched afterwards.

As far as having a specific goal, g_g, didn't you have the route you were working on last summer, but didn't send, before the weather got crappy? is that one not a good-enough goal? How about your next trip? is there anything coming up?

I only kinda had one route I worked on last summer early on. There was a sharp micro crimp that cut up my fingers, so it's not something I can sit here and get all excited for. Unsure

There's a crappy little gym about an hour from Owen Sound I'm going to try to get to next week with a friend who has on,y been climbing a few times. Not training, but I hope getting out of ,y apartment and into a climBing enviroment will get me out of this slump.

Just working too much and in a sour mood. Had a good day climBing today. Lead head still not great with drytooling, but I may be working through it (at the very end of the season!).

Gone for a week and barely a page and a half to gU... it made for light reading.

In other news, Dawg, here, is finishing his latest project and will be free again until August sometime. My closet is full of hope and shattered dreams. My dignity has been destroyed, and as of January I seemed to have found myself with even more personal free time.

I'm getting better. I actually slept through the night last night.

The worst is I was so exhausted last week that I didn't know if I was feeling like crap because I was sick or because I needed sleep.

Went drytooling on Sat. Didn't climb a ton, but got on this burley route I could barely do the moves on last year and did pretty okay. Didn't send, but I think I can next weekend. Nathan was calling it M8, but the moves seem hard for that grade (he is a known sandbagger).

Getting ready to drive back south to Dubbya Vee. In another goddamned snowstorm. The month with the gf was awesome, and I got my full dose of city stuff– museums, jazz clubs, etc.– but am definitely ready to get home. The crowds, mass money spending, and general city hustle have definitely worn on me. Looking forward to spring climbing, especially with my rebooted gym power!

I assume you don't have snow tires?

I saw pics from Mr. Ung about the epicness of getting out of his driveway. I giggled a little. But it's all what you're used to and what you're equipped for I guess.

It is mighty handy for that. One day I actually helped yank an Acura over a snowbank, and then rallied in to take her spot afterward.

we had an epic actual precipitation yesterday. The epic part being that, for a little while, it did more than drizzle here on teh westside.

It was also supposed to rain on saturday through the day. I chanced it and went to teh lost, and it did not rain. Great weather. Finally got a successful onsight of the jamzilla (took more tries than it should have), and got a clean TRonsight run on teh sharknado.

At teh moment, weather looks a bit warm next weke end for any zending owt their, but we'll have to see what the forecast is later in the weke.

Country boys and their massive trucks, heh...

I was laughing about WV epic snow picks, too. I have not been able to see the road over the snow banks, while exiting the driveway, for at least a month now. My driveway is shrunk to one-car width, and the piles on either side of it are above 6ft.

Everyone here is talking about how we had the coldest February on record, with average daily temp under 15F for the entire month. But I'm pretty sure the summer will make up for it...

And spring is coming, it is definitely coming! Got mah tomatoes, peppers and eggplants started this weekend. Broccoli and petunias, too.

In other gnus, my PT said gleefully at the end of the workout session today, " You asked for it... you won't be able to get off the commode tomorrow!"

I think she was too optimistic. I might be experiencing difficulties later tonight. Awwwwwww, owwwww, waaaaaa!

So on account that I don't have a lot of curves and I struggle to find bikinis that I like and fit me well (read - ones that don't fall off if I really try to swim but I still look good in), I just bought this swim suit:

http://www.mec.ca/...ece-swimsuit-womens/

I've never seen this thing IRL so we'll see whether it looks good or just kind of weird.

I'm curious if you guys have more snow than OS does. There's a decent amount here, but we don't get it off the lake like you would.

It has been cold though. I was planning on doing xc skiing and all sorts of fun stuff when I got back from Europe, but those first two weeks were just too fucking cold to get outside. I'm handling the cold better now though (as it starts to warm up).

Of course I gots snow tired. Not worried about getting into the microcabin. I actually used mah 4x4 a lot in NYC to rally over snow banks into parking places that nobody else had taken. Woo!

Just got back to Dubbya Vee; there's more snow here than I thought there would be. Actually can't get up to my cabin at awl, even with the 4x4. Well, maybe if I got some tire chains I could, but it's 18" of wet concrete all over the road in right now.
