Was up in 'Casparis' (S'Cville) tonight. They've been doin' some heavy timbering all about and have created a temporary 'Highway to Heaven' up into the place. The steep hill has been graded for logging vehicles. You can literally drive your geriatric mom's 1987 Honda Civic with 265K mileage up into there with no problem, and turn around and sell it for 200bucks! Not to mention easy access to all the great bouldering all along the 'Ridge'. Its now or never.

The Ridge listed as (Casparis) under Southwestern PA is one of the most amazing places to boulder in our region. We kept track up to about 120+ problems in 2007. Currently I'd estimate there are 200 to 300+ boulder problems. Still new stuff seems to keep turning up. In past years the rough road seems to have kept it low traffic. If you like to boulder this place is definately worth a visit. Much like Cooper's Rock, but without the crowds. If you happen to check it out on a weekend, you may bump into area activist Bob Rentka. He's spends a great deal of time there and is happy to point you in the direction of the area gems. Great bouldering awaits you. Check it out!

I heard that the ppl who own giant eagle grocery also own the land where highrocks is in derry, pa. They have told the game commision no trespassing, no hunting, and no climbing. Does anyone know if this is true. If so, I would suggest you buy groceries and gas somewhere else.

He's fine, thanks for the concern. He thought he didn't break anything, and after x-rays and stuff he was right. In the video it looks like his right arm is just about snaped in half, but it barely hurt he says. Just a bruised heel and some new-found wisdom.

You can still see it through my vimeo. I took it down because it was causing too much of a ruckus around here.

It appears rock season is over, and ice season is looming.

Monday I thought was a day to climb, but it was very wet, and not that warm. Decent bicycling day.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope everyone can get outside and take a deep breath.

Thanks Charley. Merry Christmas to all as well.

I'll be spending Christmas in a plane over the Pacific, but the 2 weeks in New Zealand will make it all worth it Wink. No climbing but everything else outdoors.

Preemptive Happy 2010 as well!

Heater packets, 180 ear muffs, polypros, and carharts are my secret.. i work outside all day, not my first dance =)

i found some cool pictures on ECPs web site in the ice climbing section that motivated me, do you know where in panther hollow the first picture was taken?

Eight of us showshoed into Confluence 13 Feb, so the way is clear, right to the ice. The left side is in, but better as a top rope than a lead. A lot of ice came down on the right, just tapping it.
