harnesses, shoes, chalkbags show up occasionally. You gotta be there just the right time though, obviously. good luck!

Check out http://sac.gearattack.com/items It tracks the deals, so you can go back and see what they were. If they're still in stock, you can buy them, though not at the deal price. Climbing gear shows up now and then. I buy random stuff here and there, but don't expect anything too exciting to ever show up.

Then I got a 60 meter mammut rope. Then i got another flashed pad. Then I got approach shoes for my girlfriend...... Sunglasses. Socks. A knife for a christmas gift. A jacket. It never ends. The addiction grows. I define addiction as any behavior that controls you, as opposed to the other way around. I swear, if steep and cheap sold me a gold-plated statue of a heffalump in hand-to-hand combat with a garden gnome I might buy it, and still think I got a great deal....for some apparent reason.

LoL... My GF would kill me if I brought another bouldering pad into the apartment, and there's no room for another rope in the bin. Did buy a knife for a gift a few weeks ago. I'm not an addict, there's nothing I really *need*. But I have friends with less extensive gear closets who love the site. BTW, there are add-ons for the browser, the pop-ups are great if you want to be notified of the latest deal. edited for grammar.

Well the term "getting lucky" for me now is defined as "scoring" some good climbing gear on steep and cheap. Yesssss.

I got my arterix craiging pack form SAC. it retails for 200 but I got it for 45+10 shipping. I also landed 2 synthetic baboo moisture wicking, some super climber shirts that retail for 80 and get them for $10 each. They hold BO well but keep me dry in the hot summer months Most of what is on SAC is clothes, but they have had alot of BD trekking poles and knives as of late.

Ahhh after a long and grueling finals week, I treated myself to a 25 dollar kavu fleece jacket. First steep and cheap purchase! Have a kavu day!

don't forget the allied sites - Militia Whiskey (clothes) & Chain Love (bikes) (I think I've got the names right). I've been pleased with what I've ordered.

Yeah, Chain Love is good too. From S&C I've snagged cheap approach shoes (LS Cirque Pros for $40), as well as a bunch of good technical clothing. Get the little browser widget and you won't miss the good stuff. There is a LOT of crap on there but when it is worth it, it is really worth it.

WhiskeyMilitia.com is more than just clothes, it's surf, board and skate. But like steepandcheap.com, you tend to see a lot of clothes and sunglasses. Chainlove.com I don't watch, but it's probably the same as the others, lot of clothes and sunglasses and a few good deals here and there. gearattack.com tracks all three (at once, separately, as well as historical).

Here's the full list: www.steepandcheap.com - camp, climb, hike www.tramdock.com - ski www.whiskeymilitia.com - skate, surf, general steeze www.brociety.com - snowboard www.chainlove.com - mountain bikes www.bonktown.com - road bikes If you watch Backcountryoutlet.com or Departmentofgoods.com, you can tell what is coming up on the one deal at a time sites. When there are 150 quantity of a snowboard on the outlet site, it means they are probably going up on Brociety soon (for example). Same goes for climbing gear - there was an unusually large quantity of those Maxcams on Backcountryoutlet.com before they went up on Steepandcheap.

Only climbing related purchase I got was a pair of LS Vipers for about $55. Should have bought 2 pairs, in retrospect. Also got a ton of Stoic gear (hardshell jacket and bibs, softshell, wool hoodie which i'm wearing right now), another Norrona softshell, and a bunch of random crap like socks, LED lights, etc. I've gotten a bunch of stuff from Tramdock: 2 pairs of powder skis and 1 set of binders, a Dakine backpack, a bunch of smaller gifts like gloves, ski wax, etc. Backcountry.com has been the bane of my checking account for 2 years!

Not sure if anyone has said it yet but www.gearscan.com is the best website to use... It has all of the 'cheap'websites in the same window.

BriClimbs wrote: I've recently discovered my new addiction....Anyone ever score decent climbing gear here? Or is it mostly jackets socks tents and ugly boots? Well I had their desktop icon widget for a week and not once in a week did a single piece of climbing gear show up. After that I uninstalled it and never looked back. So I guess that was a bad week for S&C.
