Nope, 3 pounds is only 1360 grams....the average biner weighs over 50 grams (BD-Ovals are 62 grams)...nano's weigh in at 23 grams.

My trad rack was full of my oldest biners including several old BD-Ovals.

Swapping out 40 biners = ~3 pounds.

Maybe the investment isn't worth the cost...but since I was ready to upgrade my biners (some where 15 years old)...I took the deal as my chance to lighten up!

40 biners? Yes...think about 15ish runners/draws plus racking biners for cams and nuts.

This site seems to have decent sale on climbing gear... looks like about 25% off quite a few things like C3's, C4's, ropes and draws.

You can get the newer version (look at the pictures) from Moosejaw for $5.91 +Moosejaw pts using SPAD15. It was cheaper not too long ago too.

You can do even better - GearExpress has Nano 23 quickdraws (2 Nanos & a dogbone) for $10, making the 'biners $5/ea.

Noticed that REI is offering its members 20% off using coupon code MEMBER20. It was right on their main page, it doesn't work at REI-outlet unfortunately but I was still thinking of applying my dividend and using the coupon to get either a helmet or a gri-gri.
