my ten lifetime climbing goals: 1. To never let the rating dictate my fun. 2. To never let the protection dictate my abilities 3. To not let a year go by without visiting a new area 4. To never lose motivation putting up FA's 5. That even if my abilities drop in numbers, my enthusiasm and drive will not 6. That I never let others talk me out of my goals 7. That I be considered a trustworthy friend by all of my partners 8. That I encourage others to success as they encourage me. 9. That I always am willing to introduce new people to the sport, even if it cuts into my own climbing time. 10. That I redpoint my project "TigerBill" bolted and named after my grandpas death. Jer

To Climb and not fall. To live to old age. And to still be climbing when I'm 70.

Yah, I just want to climb. And climb. And climb some more. And get as good at it as I personally can. I don't have a specific numeric goal I want to reach, just want to keep challenging myself, so it never gets boring. I dunno if I would ever want to go alpine, but I definitely want to learn to do some more trad. Right now all I've been doing is sport, though I enjoy it and don't see anything wrong with it. I also want to get better at bouldering. I think I at least want to try it all before I settle on anything, though.

my goal is to explore and find a virgin face somewhere in the himalaya's, and climb the hell out of it. Maybe just live at the base with some buddhist monks.

ultimatly i want to make sure not to lose focus, of climbing and its role in my life. i want to make sure i can dedicate myself to using climbing to help develop myself physically and spiritually. with dedication many other, smaller, goals will be attained allowing me to have continual growth as a climber and a person.

Hmm, have fun with friends everytime I go out is my #1 goal. Long term-wise... Move to Vegas and start developing long Multi-pitch Sport Routes Wife graduates from college in 3 years and then that dream just may become a reality!

Main goal, to lead trad on a 5.11b multi-pitch climb. Other goals - Half Dome, El Cap, Mt. Ranier, Everest, and Kilamanjaro, and learning to love slopers. [ This Message was edited by: spider_woman on 2003-01-06 08:23 ] [ This Message was edited by: spider_woman on 2003-01-13 08:16 ]

Jer, I like your list. Noble. Here's mine: 1: NEVER stop climbing, no matter how old and decrepid I am... I'll keep moving up in any way possible, on any grade I can still manage. 2: Can you say Portaledge+Honeymoon? 3: Have a beautiful wife (working on that right now!) that at least tolerates my addiction to climbing (preferably shares or understands it, though this is not a must), and 3 or 4 children that I can start teaching to climb as soon as they start grabbing things with there hands and climbing up household furniture.! 4: Start my own climbing gym (already working on that, mainly for my future children/grandchildren) within the next 2 years! Make it a social haven for climbers to meet other climbers, train, and enjoy themselves, from all over the world. The plans are taking shape now, and this place is going to be a model of what a climbing gym should be. 5: Become an AMGA certified Rock Climbing instructor and Guide. 6: Oh, and I always want to be known as the "crazy rockclimbing relative" to all of my family -- cousins, nephew and neices, grandparents, siblings, uncles and aunts, etc. Maybe someday a few of them will understand, become less cynical, and give the mountains the love they deserve, and feel what it's like to get that love in return for your personal efforts and achievements! 7: As much as climbing is my passion in life, it is my goal and intention to always keep it second to God and Family. Only then will my efforts on the rock bring me complete satisfaction.

Short-term: -- Learn to ice climb this winter -- Start leading trad this summer -- Climb as much multi-pitch as I can (hell, CLIMB as much as I can) -- Get stronger Long-term: -- Some sick-ass aid route that no other woman has climbed -- The biggies in the Alps -- Machapuchare, because it is beautiful

First, to make it up a big wall, preferably the Prow in Yosemite, and ultimately, to get good enough to do A3 routes.
