Thankfully, that, and the stories Edge told are not in my "book of ways to climb"...
Maybe I learned fairly early on, after getting very drunk on New Years Eve '97-'98 and bouldering up an archway on the castle in Heidelberg. Climbing up was fine, but landing the jump back down f'd up my ankle pretty good. After that, I realized drinking and then climbing was not the combination for me.Pirate
...I do still very much enjoy a beer or two after climbing though!

It is obviously a great idea to drink and climb on rockclimbing.com . After your drunk you can make believe you climbed outside all day any climb or grade you wish. In the comfort of your home on a computer

I had downed 5 PBR's before I redpointed my hardest grade.

Granted it was 3.2.

The beer, not the grade.

Just curious how much climbers drink, and if there is any correlation with how hard they climb. So how much do you drink and how hard do you climb? I'll start: I drink a few beers 3-5 times a week and I've redpointed up 12d but usually send around 12a/b

No. And even if there was a correlation, it would not be causation, which is the part you're really trying to get after, I would think.

few years ago, when at the top of my game, i sent 11c smashed. and cleaned the draws from the other routes around it cause no one else could. but back then i used to climb just as hard as i drank. due to an elbow injury climbing in spearfish, my climbing hasnt been up to par! drinking still up there tho!
