OK, first draft of first drawing done with the new software.

It's needs to be lightened up a lot, but I think it came out OK.

- Bell looks like crap.
- Arch looks like crap
- Dark area above the arch looks like crap (needs to be much lighter and the lines significantly more consistent)
- Lighter areas on the main wall are too light and look odd compared to the rest of the wall
- Red at the bottom is too rich. Needs to be more subtle. Needs to be closer to orange than red.
- General gradations from dark to light where the sun hits is actually pretty decent (except for the top four segments)
- White lines need to be softer, but the difference in tone compared to the main wall is about right.

Overall, it's not bad. I'm pretty happy with the result. I used a mouse only, so the lines aren't that great (it's difficult to control the movement with a mouse). I'm hoping to get a drawing pad soon (similar to a mouse, but you can write / draw with it).

I only have 30 days left of the pro demo (this one was done with the lower, studio, version) and the pro demo has paint mixing as an option (studio does not), so I'm going to turn my attention away from finishing this drawing to working with a painting here soon.

I hope that by Feb I can get back to finishing this, however.

It's called "Bell on Defensa"

Is this just for practice? Or you have a specific task at hand?

Just practice. Trying to learn how to use the software for bigger projects.

I'd like to paint this, so i'm working my way up to practice painting it before actually drawing with charcoal and painting it.

Happy festivus folks.

My gift to you:

What did Santa say to the hooker?
"fuck the chimney, tonite I'm coming down your throat"

i and my girlfriend's son laughed.

merry christmas (and other holidays) to all you bastards.

Merry Christmas er'body!

Your bottle openers were big favorites. I handed them out last night and they were immediately put to use.
Much to my suprise I got a bottle opener too.
Of course its really a can opener, it just happens to have the little bottle opener feature on the bottom also.

I got an annual family pass to the local conservation areas... Mount Nemo (climbing/hiking), kelso (climbing and mtb), rattlesnake point (climbing), halton hills (mtb), Crawford lake (hiking/Indian village) and mountsberg (hiking/kayaking/play farm).
I got a beanie that has a knitted beard thing attached to it, so when I wear the beanie it looks like I have a fiery red beard and it keep my face warm.
Day pass sounds good. Will have to see the beanie w/ a built in beard.
In addition to the can opener (???), I got a camp chair, and some Sears Craftsman tool bags. Those were pretty good. But still waiting the rope bag. Unimpressed

got a couple of shirts and some candy / cookies. beach time was the best time, though.

mom's sending a package fedex tomorrow, so i'll have more goodies soon.
Alright for Mom!
I'm still waiting for a rope bag.
OK the tool bag is cool, and I can load the bigger one with the rock hounding tools. We're getting quite the collection of rocks with gold flakes, let alone other rocks. The boys, well me and wife too, and efficient at find small rocks to collect.

I'm thinking the tool bag IS the rope bag.

Ohhhh, I seeee.
Craftsman ropebag FTW!
Unimpressed

A helluva a day to have a birthday. Happy birthday (belated).

OOOO I forgot that part of the story!

so my friend wanted to take me out for my birthday, but didn't know what would be open, so she called her friend who owns a bar, and had them open it just for me!

even better the owner didn't charge us a dime!

That sounds as if it might have turned out to be a sloppy Boxing Day.

I was a little rough around the edges, but had the entire drive from San Diego to Bishop to relax
