SoCal friends - two good friends and fun climbers are heading to SD the week of Feb 18-25. The married couple are both very competent and two of my favorite people in the whole world. Can I put them in touch with you to set a day to climb?

Not sure. I've climbed with them a bunch, even at Rumney, so there's a chance you have. Their names are Kurt and Rachel, and they usually have with them an awesome black dog named Millie who is usually chasing chipmunks.

Wo0! Had a full on weekend of grateness. Cragging in the park on Saturday, sun shine and T-shirts. Then a wake for a friend at the Bit and Spur and to everyone's surprise the owner had booked Old Californio to play at the last minute. Stayed up waaay to late watching the band but still got up early the next morning to climb a new root up the East Temple. The climb probably goes at 5.8+ but has a lot of friction slab terrain with pretty spacey pro. Several pucker moments on it fore shore. With just under 3000ft. of elevation gain from parking lot to peak. We did it in 8.5 hrs. Whew! And simul-rapped awl but a few pitches. (and did knot die!) Good times, but I sure am sore today.

Top ov teh Temple with Flat Stanley!

Well done.
Makes my 300 foot Sat look a little tame.
Anyrate. Took a freind and my boys out cragging Sat. Lead one pitch, everyone TR'd on it, I climbed back up and moved it to a second anchor 30 feet to the left. Everyone TR it, me last to break it down. Meanwhile, one of the regular locals, had set up a 60m rope and was doing laps on it with a minitraxton. << Hey good idea.
He was rapping after lap 8, and asked if I wanted my anchor broken down and rope sent down. Thanks but no, I had only climbed twice so far, and needed to get another climb in. I'm cleaning the anchor and setting up the rap, and he's cruising by for lap 9, and my younger boy yells up. "Dad there's a bee on your sock."
He looks over and goes, "always an adventure."
I laffed.
All in all, a good cassual day. Nice weather. Both boys did two climbs, the younger made the full 100 foot on the second climb, and lowered like a pro. The older did both 100 footers. As a group we did 10 climbs. I got 3 pitches in. Sore now. Cool

grate weekend!

ended up heading to Malibu Creek with the BF, my brother, his gf and 2 others. 3 were pretty new climbers, I was one of 2 rope guns for the trip, which turned out really good because I couldn't chicken out and make other people lead for me :P Definitely was pushed out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. I think it really helped my lead head issues. Did a bunch of fun routes and camped sat night... good times!

I am way sore now

the only downside was on day 1, a big group of (teens/early 20's?) can over where we were, started playing loud music, drinking, smoking, yelling. The one guy gave a lead belay with his back to the climber, cigarette in one had, other hand occasionally on the rope, chatting with someone else... he payed out a ton of slack so the leader would have plenty while he was busy talking.

luckily we were pretty much done anyways so we took off

Oh nice...
Crazy
We had one guy who lead to the second set of anchors, then decide he couldn't TR off them. They were a little higher than my 100 foot anchors, and he only had a 50m rope. Dude, your gonna need a longer rope. He worked it out and TR'd off the 60 foot anchors.

Took my dog climbing for the second time. She did much better. She only whined some of the time I was climbing rather than all of it. The unintended consequence is the poochy is now more attached to me than my fiance, a total reversal. Dogs are so fickle.
