My personal experience is eerily similar.

Although Meaghan did call a week ago and announced plans to catch up with us on our bon voyage sometime during the Summer and hitch a ride for a few weeks. We'll probably be somewhere around Cali/Oregon/Idaho about then, and at least I'll have a built in partner and a 2-1 vote for the days activitahs.

the girl called last week to inform me she was going to the sasquatch music festival in wa state..........near some good climbing at frenchman's coulee. no climbing partner, but she did say she and her friends would be stopping by for a meal and a showerMad!!

the boy called a couple of days ago to say he's not coming for a visit, but saving his holidays for the maxfuncon whatever held in california.

jeez, kids these days.

are you coming near wa state edge?

but then again, they're living on their own funds, i cannot comment on

Could be, could be.

We have a few must-stop destinations, well, maybe 20, and otherwise we have no agenda.

Jung offered to take the wife and I down the Gauley, so we will probably detour to WV on our way from PA to Cincy (necessary family stops along the way.)

What are you offering?Blush

couch, coffee some local climbing and you could talk wood working with the husband

Sounds intriguing. Do you have parking for a 24' trailer?

sure

Well then we will entertain the idea of a side trip through Washington. What part of the state are you in?

south west tri cities. close to the oregon border
The map shows some tri cities in south central/east?

OK, I found it on stalkerbook. Definitely looks like it's in the range of possibility; probably rolling through around end of July?

Finally found a buyer for the Time Capsule that I built last Fall. My old town commissioned it for their sesquicentennial, then wouldn't pay the $90 I asked for to cover out of pocket expenses because I insisted on it being an anonymous donation and they wouldn't cut a check or take out petty cash without my name. Tards.

[image][/image]

I ditched it on etsy for $650, about 1/5 what I would normally charge, but we really didn't want to put it in storage with the rest of our belongings and ship it out to CO.

The buyer wants me to replace the key and glass on the upper box with a shell inlay of sand shaded maple and mahogany. Guess I'll try to work on that today. Only charging him an extra $75 for that, and although the whole inlay is only about 2 1/2" long x 1 1/2" high, it's a lot of detailed work. Seriously cramping my attitude of slackitude.

you should put a notice in the town's paper of your recent success. kind of like how people put notices of when their kids graduate from college or get married. not sure how you'd word it, but still, that'd be pretty funny to cut it out of the paper and put as a hidden time piece inside the time capsule, only for someone to discover it 50 years from now just so that the town manager's kid can be embarrassed when he's the asst clerk.

The town's folk and the Powers That Be were on opposite ends of the excitement scale when we left in October.

I did not leave with many sympathizers in the town Establishment.

World famous in New Durham! Woo!

A name that will live in infamy!

Rage against the Machine!

what a bunch of tools.

As far as I know, I've never heard the band. I was referring more to a state of mind.

I now understand Marge's directions to mean she lives in the SW corner of the Tri-City area. Close to the Oregon border.

The best part about re-orienting is that anytime, anywhere, you can always stop what you are doing, re-orient, and change the course of your day. I think I may just have to do dat right now.

Got tired of what I was doing, packed up my desk and headed back to the office. Working on a different project and 1/2 the stress. Much better!

you're arguement is invalid. you're in south canada. There are places in the US north of you...

You're not included in this conversation mr SoCal

I can quantifiably say that I have lived in a location in the US that was geographically more north than you... Just because I'm way down here doesn't mean I can't lay claim to that fact!

I can also drive in the snow!

And I can say I've lived in a location that was geographically more north than that...

Saskatoon was probably the farthest.

Did some army time on an ammo depot about 40km outside the city

saskatoon is my home town

Brutal

actually, it's a lovely city with lots going on. the weather sucks and you are on the prairies, but other than that, it was a great place.

Cold, flat and isolated...

hmmm

cold, flat, but not isolated. it's a fairly big city, nice music scene, good university, good food. no climbing scene, but close to lakes and northern camping.

rather be there than is ontarible.....but that's just me

Well, a good freind and climbing partner was let go from work yesterday. Wed I had a bad sense of foreboading. He seemed to be going through a rough stretch at home. He lives close enough though. So hopefully we'll still be able to rope up.
Actually quite a few freinds and acquaintances were let go this week.

Would any of you hesitate to go throw money at a wedding that you're not wanted at?

I would send regrets due to a "prior engagement." Please excuse the double entendre.

And no way in hell I would send money. If its cash they want, they should stay single or marry up.

Five of us were supposed to go climbing this weekend. After several rounds of bailing and general ambivalence about the, almost certain to be, wet and seeping conditions, we did not go clip bolts in WV on Saturday. Plans were reworked to just hit the local spot and wank about. Another round of bailing ensued. Finally it was down to two but I did not want to tie in, I wanted to run laps. So I bailed on my partner and then went climbing Devil

28 pitches including downclimbs. Was kind of crowded but no one got squirrely on me for climbing near them. Was a good session.
