"its a two-way street, bro. you cant dismiss me as a flamer, and than make off-hand responses without acknowledging the logic that is there"

Sure I can. But I didn't dismiss you my friend. Your post stimulated me to reenter this thread. I hardly call that a dismissal.

And I don't recall labeling you anything, let alone a flamer. Either my memory is failing or you're thinking of someone else.

Cheers,
DMT

perhaps youre right dingus. perhaps i am transposing others dismissal of my logic onto you. i apologize.

an idealistic debate will never be settled through logic. and this is purely an idealistic debate...but at least acknowledge that some of my posts are logical and potentially accurate...

What, noone wants to get into a debate about the qualitative theoretical differences of man's evolution? Damn it, I guess that means I should get back to work.

Enigma... Quote:It also is more difficult to digest,I think it takes 3 days for dead animals to be digested in our systems.and...

meat takes no longer to digest than any other food. This sounds vaguely like that myth that if you swallow gum, it will stay in your stomach for seven years. Everything comes in and goes out at a constant rate.

“it's exactly my point that there are people starving elsewhere that need food, and right now, because of OUR eating habits, they don't have it.”

Subsequent posting:

“We have not yet run out of food and I don't expect "we" (speaking as the human species) ever will.”

Eco- perhaps you will take my challenge and explain to me how my eating choices are causing people to starve right now in Madagascar... especially in light of your subsequent post. Will you defend your point?

"qualitative theoretical differences of man's evolution"

I don't think anyone would argue with you on that. Except that - perhaps it's not as theoretical as one might think.

The biggest element of evolution that governs humans is the evolution of ideas. This is what can (or will) make or break us.

Though I do not believe that collectively, as a species, we will run out of food and die (as we have escaped natural selection), I do believe that our choices over the past hundred years have contributed to the overconsumption of resources that could be given to those in greater need. Connecting our food choices to starvation in a third world country was already posted. When we are utilizing only 10% of the available energy from an agricultural crop because we choose to feed a cow rather than a country we are collectively contributing to their starvation. A redistribution of the wealth (in terms of consumptive resources) could be accomplished should we decide to stop feeding the cows, pigs and chickens and start feeding the people.

Just to clarify, I am in no way a raging humanitarian. In fact, I have no desire to feed the world's hungry as I believe the impact of our exploding population on the natural areas of the world is a far greater devastation than that of starving people. I'd much rather see the land be restored to a "natural" state, than see it farmed to feed the hungry.

Flame on.

Oh it has, has it? I can see further discussion will not be productive. I will leave your points (and this thread) to speak for themselves.

You see, this is what I mean. I am reading these articles and wondering why people are getting so pissed off. It is the free will thing. Don't force your opinion on other people. Let people live jow they want. Again, I am a hard core meat eater but I don't care if you are a veg. More meat for me. And vise versa. Chill and let people live how they want to.
