carnage: widespread slaughter of people: widespread and indiscriminate slaughter or massacre, especially of human beings. i thought adding the 'd' on the end of it, would make it past tense. I also didn't know what carnage meant until I looked it up. I just thought it was a cool word. *Shrugs*

I've explained this one before, but I'll give it to you in a nutshell. I always have a great sense of direction and rarely get lost (temporarily at best). However, I always end up finding the WORST possible route. Whether exposed, dangerous, or just generally sh*tty, I can pick 'em. My ex-climbing partner said to me, in the middle of nowhere facing yet another lousy route choice, said "you sure do know how to pick a wild trail" as we sat looking, sweating, and panting after its completion. Something like that. I never remember things right anymore because...senility setting...in...can't.... What was the question?

It was given to me by my husband..who felt that I had a lot of the same personality traits as the critter. I then proved I was worthy of the name by sliding belly first down a steep snow field with a full pack on...btw..ladies...i do not suggest this...it leaves realllllly nasty bruises in verrrrry tender places!

mw are my initials, and btle is a shortened form of beetle, which was my nickname in high school. Because I liked the Beatles. I don't resemble a beetle at all...no antennae or anything. Wings would be cool, but I don't have them either.

i don't very much like my name. its not exactly a phonetic word. instead, it is roman numerals for 1983 (which was the year i was born) according to the Julian Calendar (which has my namesake). Hi, my name is Julian and i have no creativity.

I wouldn't worry about not having creativity, julian. I think I got you beat. Mine was assigned to me as an email address for school. Derived from my first, and middle initials, and my last name. My friends that I emailed quite frequently just started calling me by my email name. Just kinda stuck. Oh and at the time that Disney movie Aladin was popular, and I had a goatee like the vilan, Jafar. And I had an evil talking parrot. That might have had something to do with it...

Otter gave me mine after a dayhike on Mt. Rainier. I spent half an hour trying to get close to a hoary marmot and then waited for it to pose on top of a boulder for a photo. I managed to get reasonably close, it posed, and I got the photo. don't know where it is now, or I'd post it.

It's not the one from Rainier, but one I saw on a hike in the Sierras in 2000. We stopped for a break in a spot that turned out to be almost right on top of his burrow. He came out and hollered at us for a while, then decided just to watch us from his entrance.

It's my first name, pure and simple. *shrug* It's Hispanic, and is the name of the Indian tribe that was living on Puerto Rico before Christopher Columbus came along and gave them all smallpox - the Taino Indians. The Tainos were an offshoot of the Arawak Indians, who migrated slowly up from the North coast of South America to settle the entire Caribbean. My mother wanted to give me a traditional Hispanic male first name, but didn't like any of them. Apparently, she actually does have a sense of humor. I went for years known as "Chef"; in fact, some of my mtb friends don't call me anything else. It got tiresome. Tai (nickname) Edited to give history of name. Marmots are evil. Hugepedro. A girlfriend used to call me huge-Peter, mostly because of our difference in size - me tall, she small. I went with the hispanic version to make it less vulgar. Had I known I'd be sticking around on this site at the time I signed up I would have put a little more thought and imagination into it. Now I'm stuck with a name that makes me look like I'm consumed with some sort of phallic narcissism. I do love my penis, but not THAT much.

All the better when you find a woman who loves it as well. Ok…back to the topic of discussion… The morning before logging on to rc.com for the first time…I led a route called Swain in the Breeze. “Follow route up hangerlessbolts”… For those who are not aware…hangerlessbolts are simply bolts or rivets that for whatever reason do not have hangers on them to clip into. So you take wired nuts…slide the nut down the wire…slip the hoop of the wire over the bolt or rivet head and cinch the nut up against it…then clip into the other end of the wire. Sketchy as hell…definitely involves HPF (high pucker factor). ~Hanger

It comes from an argument I had with friends who insisted I was "evil." After lengthy negotiations we settled on my being the "greater evil", rather than "prince of evil", "evil incarnate", the "personification of all evil", etc. I think I was angling for the lesser evil, but changed my mind. maiorlive: Greater sounds better in latin; Spell evil backwards. The story behind my username: I'm lazy and haven't bothered to think up a new user name for internet stuff since ... I dunno, maybe '95. W

my user name story is pretty dull. it's just my first and middle name backwards, but i cut off an n and changed the 'h' to an 'f' 'cause the 'h' sounded funny. sarah lynn ---> farasnyl and '10' was my soccer number. pretty lame. heh.

Eowyn is kind of obvious...my fav character from the lotr BOOKS...and the '1025' part is a date: October 25 which is St. Crispins day, the day that Henry V toasted the French at the battle of Agincourt. Ren actually started out as a bastardization of my real name ( however spelled wrong)Darran Dog came into being after a particular time in my life that less than "honorable" towards the ladies. basically it should be spelt dawg bu wtf it's my name. Shortly after the cartoon Ren and Stimpy came on the air and it stuck. My personality is strickingly similar to Ren Hoek's. Believe it or not there's people out there that think that my real name is Ren. but I'm feeling much better now "D"

I was looking for a new username (as beanpole is apparently more common than the numbers that follow it on the net) and for some bizarre reason there was a magnet attached to the computer desk that said (you guessed it) Pets Fed. I use it for all of my logins now because there are no other petsfed's on the entire planet. Plus, back when I was way into computer gaming, all of the real badasses had very unique names and I aspired to be a gaming god too.

Petsfed, mine's the same way, I was playing trivial pursuit and got a question wrong. The next day I got the internet and setup my e-mail. That was the first thing that came to mind. You won't find another albertonium on the net. (The infamous question: What physics scientist known for his work on the atomic weapon has an element named after him?)

hmmm this is an ancient story, one that pays homage to the man who first put the true nectar of the gods, beer, into an easy to carry and open, pop-top can. nahh, actually, when i first logged on and was setting up my account i was trying to rack my brain about a "clever" username. anyway, i ended up looking at my table, which was just packed with empty beer cans and it came to me, like a message from god.

uhh... carnaged, I hate to break it to you, but "carnage" is a noun, and you can only make verbs past tense. so, really, you are living a lie!!! hehe. my name is due to the fact that I have a cam for a head.* *seriously, if anyone has lots of time on their hands, knows how to do cool graphics on their computer, and wants to get in good with me... make a picture of a guy with a camhead and send it to me. That would be sweeeeeeeet.

A nod to Bob Dylan and the World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band, take your pick...they are both great! Plus, a ... gathers no moss. [ This Message was edited by: rollingstone on 2003-02-04 15:39 ]

My first time at this website someone said something that made me mad and I wanted to reply. So while signing up, I remembered from the movie "Cliff Hanger" the old guy called sylvester stallone a rock jock. Then '04 the year of my graduation. I wanna change it though. That would be sweet if you could change your name and still have your post count and all references to your past posts.

I always had trouble with arete climbs, so I keep after them till I get them. They're one of my largest challenges. It's kinda stupid. And, the double r and t are just for my own aesthetics.

Quote:There's an underscore between your first and last names on your birth certificate? I had to 'stress' the space. If you choose "Andy Lemon" font in your Microsoft Word program, everytime you hit the space bar it automatically drops an underscore.
