That's the scary part, during my practice climbs, I've been eyeing some unclimbed potential routes across the canyon, wondering about taking my bolt kit and going for placing some belay anchors - looks like two to three pitchs.

I just got a set of the smallest (aid ) sizes of Astro Nuts. I was wondering if they are supposed to come without any curves on the edges like the larger sizes. I cant see if they are supposed to have curves on the end and one side in the pictures at retailers. So I was wondering if anyone else had them, and if they indeed had curves. Mine does not. Just making sure they are not supposed to have them. THanks Jesse

Somehow when metoleus farmed out the astros production, the plans got mirror imaged and the shape of the littlest ones changed a bit.

In reply to: do you think that the new un-urved astro's work just as well? thanks for the help Jesse Jesse: want to get in the office pool on whether the very next post will say "NO, they won't work worth a shit without the curves, better send them to me for further evaluation". BTW, although I can't answer your question: I climbed with the curved ones like 2 Yosemite trips ago, and we took them out of the rack due to their propensity to stick solid like glue and become somewhat difficult to remove. Might be better now.

It’s been about five years since we got rid of the curve on the Astro Nuts sizes 1 thru 5 (Aid Set). The curve was quite negligible and didn’t make much difference in performance but was costly to make that way. We still have all the curves on the Astro Nuts sizes 6 thru 10. We briefly contracted out the production of the heads to the Astro Nuts about five years ago but only for a couple of batches. All Astro Nuts are currently made right here in our facility in Bend, OR.

Thank you very much for the response. It did seem like it was superfluous to have the curves on such a small size. Keep up the good products. Jesse.
