I've been at it for about 25 years, but on 11mm climbing rope cranked down with rescue pulleys which is not slack but tight and very bouncy. Tricks, hmmm...well here are some: * Set it up at about 4 feet high (11mm rope, not webbing) and run (or skip) full tilt boogy at it from about a 30-45 degree angle and stick it. * 180s. * 360s. * Kneeling on both knees and back up. * Start laying down and stand up in one fluid motion (harder on cranked down 11mm). * Start laying down, stand up, walk to other end, do a 180, come back, do a 180, and lay back down. * Swinging side to side as far as possible while variously sitting, kneeling, and laying down * One-Finger-Pinky Passes: Two people pass, back-to-back or face to face. * Walk over passes: one person walks to the middle and lays down, the other person walks over them (plant square on their chest) and does a 180, the person laying down gets up and walks to the other end and does a 180- how many reps can you do...? * A somewhat odd one, sort of a slackline iron cross: stand only on your right foot, reach down to the rope / webbing with your left hand and then lay down lowering your body while spreading out your hand and foot, then press back out of that position back into standing - better be in good shape... * Put the rope (11mm) up to about 9 feet or so and do various hanging mounts to a sitting position (and walk across it, 180, and sit back down, and dismount). What else, play guitar on it, lots of bouncing, juggling various things, oh and passing pins between two people on one rope and between opposite ends of two parallel tight ropes. My favorite when living in Chicago was waiting for vicious storms to blow in off the lake and then walking at night in the park in a steady 40-50 knot side wind which, with flat open hands, you can pretty much lean against the wind. [just off Fullerton, by the tall stainless steel sculpture, right along the running trail, - two great locust trees, please use a wrap padding and don't hurt them.]

In reply to: That's a whole lot farther than most people get! I agree. My "wildest trick" is attempting to stand and falling flat on my butt. I gotta practice more...

In reply to: In reply to: Cross step. Stand surfer and cross foot over foot. Is there a cool name for this? The slacker term for this trick is "Sidewaze". Can you do it both directions? Nice job, this is a huge Slackline skill that makes you a better slacker in many different ways. Like the name. Can't do it both ways, I usually get about four or five steps and eat it, made it across a 30 footer once (I had a few beers, go figure). Going the other way is rough! Does anyone stop when the feet are crossed to regain balance, or just go quickly and get back to surfer? I try to regain while crossed, not sure...........

Here's a wild trick I just found on an old post...
In reply to: Stand perpendicular to the line, and bend your knees until your legs are entirely bent underneath you and you are squatting on your haunches. (difficult to balance like this at first) Then lift one leg off the line, so you are balancing on the haunches of just one leg. In one sudden movement, SHOOT the remaining leg off the line and land balancing on your butt, still perpendicular to the line, with both legs out in front of you. I call this trick "Slackline Joe's Mom" because the line slaps my butt just like her if I stick it right :) Sorry joe, it still sounds like a cool trick.

I've been working on a 360 while being in the "Thinking Man" position (legs crossed, elbow on knee, chin on fist). It takes a lot of air to give enough time to get into and out of the position. Other than that, I've been working a lot of Yoga into the slackline. It adds to the meditation and there are some really complex movements that I think would be really awesome to do while slacking.
