HOLY SHITE

Phil- how is he ? looks like it was a nasty bounce! Was he seriously injured? Vid/ made it look like he kinda walked away from it.Or was that just his progression down the fall line? Any idea what the last piece of pro was?

Sorry about the bombardment of ?'s

He takes a 5 m fall and walks away with a few cuts...

I took a 2.5 m fall and smashed my ankle in such as way that it will never work properly again in my lifetime.

Lucky guy.

Wow, read the report in that second link.

It sucks when your placement fails. Learn to use tricams, they should work even in upside down OZ man!

I had a butt-fall of my own a few weeks a ago, only 20 feet right on my ass in soft dirt, mised rocks by a foot on either side, so I know how he feels-- dumb luck is a great ally sometimes.

COngrats to the belayer for having the quick reaction to haul up to stop a worse fall!

I'm glad you are OK, you and Phil should come visit the USA so you can fall in the proper hemisphere!

Looks like that Foster's commercial that was running in the States a few years ago had it right about you Aussies. (The commercial: an Aussie man is standing around, and this huge meteor crashes down on him and impales him into the ground. The Aussie says, "Ouch." Pause... The narrator says, "Crybaby.")

Orangeoverhang takes a 15 feet fall, lands on his back on solid rock, says, "F*ck," and walks away.

What the hell are you Aussies made of?!?

The one thing I wanna know is, if I move to the northern hemisphere, will I fall up the cliff when I peel off.

Neil mentioned to me that it all happened very quickly. One instant he was climbing and the next instant he was picking himself up from the ground. It took him a little while to orient himself to the new situation. All the blood spooked him a bit until he checked himself all over and only found superficial stuff.

It seems there is a rash of people falling off cliffs lately and I think I`m beginning to see a trend.

The experienced guys are being a little rash and taking things a little too casual and the inexperienced guys just plain don`t know and there are an awful lot of inexperienced people out there.

Climb safely guys, take that little bit of extra time to ensure that you know what you are doing.

Whats up with those Aussies and tricams???

I recently started climbing with a guy from Australia; as I was leading this climb in the Gunks and began to place a small tricam, he shouts up, "are you really going to place that?" I was like, "... umm, yea, why not?" He began to tell me how tricams could never work and that before he left for America his friends gave him a pink tricam as a joke! I responded, "this little pink tricam will save your a$$ one of these days!"

It was funny, he just doesn't believe a tricam could work! I think tricams can be pretty bomber placed well in a good placement... however, improperly placed they're worthless, like most gear improperly placed...

glad you're ok orangeoverhang... that was nasty lookin... stuff like that keeps us on our toes I guess

Good recovery, takes some balls to get straight back on the rock
