I'm an "intermediate". Do couple of trip at BatuCaves but most of the time in Summit. Hope there's more climbing site (Perak) and artificial walls.

well trad climbing is when u have to place your own protection like nuts, camming devices..etc as u go up a route. Widely practiced here in england because bolting rocks is known to be bad.. In malaysia however, we mainly have sport routes(bolted). This is because we get only limestones and i heard that limestone is not suitable for trad climbing.

Really cool to know there's Malaysian climbers. lol, hell, I've been dreamin about it when I was little and I only started last year. Well, I've climbed @ Summit. Not really a biggie. Now, I'm in Southern Cali and I hope when I go back to Malaysia, I'd get to do some outdoors there...hopefully I get to meet some people who climbs outdoor. lol...uhh...ya....this is kinda like, off the topic, but oh well

Hey, I've climbing real rock in KL for about a year. Most of the time i climb at Cave rock but i like climbing at Nanyang better, theres more shade now, i want to know, has anyone ever sent 'Old shoes beware' (6c)? I can make it to the second bolt (on top rope) but then i get stuck. Does anyone know what to do, none of my climbing partners have any ideas. The problem isn't hands but feet placement. If you want to set up a toprope, you can climb the bell on the right of old shoes beware. Once you get to the top, keep going to the left (and up) and once you're directly above it, set up an anchor on the bolts and get belayed down and voila, you have toprope This is my project but i'm really clueless right now so anyone advice would be helpful, plus any other great climbs outthere, in 6a-6c range.

There seems to always be competitions at the summit. Does anyone know where to find a good selection of shoes in KL? Everyone has told me that i should wait until i go to Europe for the summer to buy shoes, but I want shoes now!!! What about multi-pitches at Batu Caves? Are they bolted or are they all natural pro?

Yeah, thats why there aren't that many rock climbers around, it cost a lot of money to get into the sport. Essential personal gear is harness and shoes but to really climb you need atleast rope, a belay device, quikdraws and usually a car How much are cams then?
