Alright it was a good weekend. A little windy, and a dash of thunderstorms at the 'Head. For the record, I sicked no_oreos on a vertical to slightly overhanging 100ft 10c. She got pumped wanted to hang, BUT SHE FIRED IT!!!. Great lead Jen! So next item on the agenda. TUESDAY HAPPY HOUR CRAGG'IN!!! I am hitting Animal World with Don from the Wilderness Exchange. All are welcome to join. Should be a good time. There is some easier stuff just around the corner from Animal World proper for those who might be put off by all the stiff grades there. I should be there by 5. Who's in???

I have to thank Gary for NOT letting me hang...because I sooooo wanted to....but once I realized I didn't have much of a choice - so I owe it to G-dawg and his super encouragement - and devil's head is sweet for those of you who haven't been...it was me and Gary and that's it...what an awesome day, despite the hail and him getting his head stuck for a brief moment...thanks Gary!

Hey all, I posted a few days ago about meeting up to climb with some of you when I'm in town next week for a conference. I need to make my airline reservations today or tomorrow, so I was wondering if I'd be able to meet up with some of you next Thursday or Friday...I'm mostly interested in sport and bouldering...so, I'd like to know what to plan for, if possible. I know plans tend to be made last minute, but if someone could give me any idea of what's going on, that'd be cool. Should I pack draws? Camping gear? Do I need to rent a car? Where do you usually climb? Any help would be very much appreciated. : ) Alyce

We generally meet around 5-ish with people showing up after that time. We'll probably be climbing sport in Boulder Canyon. You probably don't need to pack and lead gear. Bring your shoes harness chalkbag, something to carry it in, water, etc. As far as a car goes, it'll make your life easier. Perhaps you could bum a ride from one of us, but we are going to need to know a little more info. Where in Denver is your conference and where are you staying? People come to the happy hour sessions from all over the metro area. There might be some camping and climbing going on, but that would most likely be the weekend. Got to work you know. If you are around for the weekend you can definitely get out with one of our groups and enjoy some great climbing.

In reply to: A little windy, and a dash of thunderstorms at the 'Head. You were lucky -- unless your definition of "a dash" is different than mine. In a more tempest-inflicted portion of the Land of Joe-Bob and His Six Shooter, yesterday's weather was hardly genteel. The only dashing I did was diving under a leaning rock "shelter", trying to make myself really small, and cursing that my rain shell, drill, and gear were hanging from the anchors 80' off the deck. Close lightning strikes are actually pretty wild events -- I could actually feel the thunder reverberate through the rock.

It wasn't that bad for us. We managed to wrap things up and get back to the Valley where the rangers cabin is before it got going. We got pretty wet on the hike down but were well off the ridge before things got exciting. It looked much darker to the west. Sounds like you guys had some fun...

Just a word to you all that Mankyanchor put up the scariest nastiest 5.7 I have ever come across yesterday. Then did it again on the 9 next door, with a nice little 20 foot runout between gear. And Vince is now wise to the ways of the barbeque. Fun day in SP yesterday despite some crowd, dog issues.

In reply to: In reply to: Cindy, how's your shoulder? Hope you're doing ok  How is the shoulder? You didn't get to climb on Sunday??? :( Thanks for asking. The shoulder is giving me fits. I'm able to raise it above my head though today without wincing. I didn't climb on Sunday. Instead, I went to the mall (Angus always called it the MAUL) with the youngun'. My first real "climbing injury" and I didn't even get it actually climbing. At least it happened on the hike OUT, after a great climbing session. Micah, you're a schweetie! Thanks for grabbing my pack and carrying it the rest of the way. You're the best ropegun ever.
