In reply to: The two programs I found most useful for removing spyware/adware crap were: 1. Spybot 2. Ad-aware ... And remember to run your computer in safe mode for these programs.

Ad-Aware Spy Bot Obviously the two that kick ass at getting rid of that shit though. Word to the wise though, this won't get all the junk off your computer and reformating is many times key. I tend to back up all my work/junk I need to keep and reformat every 6 months to a year. There is nothing like having your computer work like it is new without spending hours and hours trying to clean up every bit of crap that is on your computer. -James

In reply to: The kicker? It solely displays ads that sell "anti-spyware" software. Straight from windows desktop too. Bastards. If you are getting popups while on the Windows desktop the problem is not adware/spyware, it is a "security" hole left open on XP/2000. If you do not disable the Messenger Service (a function designed to allow network admins to sent popup messages to users) slimeballs are able to pop up messages on your computer at will. Check out: http://support.microsoft.com/...en-us;330904&sd=tech for more info. Might be something else, but this was a big problem for lots of folks. I believe that XP Service Pack 1 disables the service when you install it. Best of luck and remember these things don't happen if you run Linux or Mac. :D George (Recovering Microsoft Windows support tech)

I've had stuff like this once or twice. Stay away from warez.

Yeah, I'm stone age, running win98. I've identified the little pecker now, but it's not looking like I can get rid of it. It's brand spanking new, and nothing kills it. I'm waiting for the next update of S&D and AdAware. That should get it. CWShredder killed it's buddy, cause only one is running now. Maybe their next update will get this one. It's just too funny that almost every popup advertises spyware removal software. That's just wrong. Bastards.

Do a search on Google Groups using the name of that specific spyware. One of my coworkers contracted this oddball version a while back that nothing would clean. A search turned up a cleaner dedicated to that program with a free trial version.
