you know when your addicted to climbing when you realize you have half an hour before you have to go pick up your date so yuo go to the gym to boulder,
then when your late she understands.

visits home always involve climbing with your family
you fly home for the first time in 9 months, say hi to mom and dad for 2 seconds and leave at 1am to drive 3 hours to Yosemite and dirtbag in camp 4 with your brother for a 1 day trip
it turns into 3 days (on a 4 day trip)
you go climbing on said trip with a messed up leg, because you dont know if you'll get another chance
you spend all your trip budget (after food and gas) on climbing shoes
you think of a way to redeisgn all shoes into climbing shoes or approach shoes
you moved in to your new apt and immediately put up routes in the bathroom and hung on every doorjam
you take a wiregate biner to work and leave it out so people will ask you questions and you can ask if they want to go climbing
you have been stemming down your parents hallway from childhood. your mother reprimands you. you do it still when you visit at age 23. your mother tells you to remember to clean off any marks. she gave up in high school.

You rate the opposite sex the same way you rate climbs:
5.0 to 5.15 the higher the grades the better she is. Of course, some of the higher grades couldn't be achieved in your wildest dreams. Just like climbing.
You further break the opposite sex into sport or trad. Need protection versus doesn't need protection.
Such and such is a 5.12 sport climb, but such and such, who's only 5.10 trad would be much more interesting.

I packed an entire extra bag of climbing gear on my trip to Norway after I found out there were some some cliffs within 100 miles of where one of my Norwegian friends lives... and I now have a guidebook that I can only understand about 10 words in it (but hey, all I needed was pictures, maps, and route grades). And yes, I was on rockclimbing.com within moments of finding out I was going to be stationed at Fort Irwin to see what was in the area.
I actually convinced my wife to let me hang a metolius hangboard over our kitchen doorway.
I don't even bother locking my truck up unless my gear is inside it (tells ya how valuable my truck is, especially since it hasn't been stolen yet).
Yeah, we're all just a bunch of freakin addicts...

on the road from Shoshone to thermopolis you almost crash due to face being plastered to side of window to see great climbing landscape (100mi of beauty) ... when you get to the other side you forget your destination and drive back through to see the other side of the canyon.
