my dog is better than yours. jeez does this topic ever die? BTW, dogs at the crag is crag dependent and for the most part if nothing else the safety of the dog at a crowded crag isn't all that good.

topic has been discussed to its ends-but wait! more comments: I like dogs and most pet owners as the posting partycommented believe their pet is their child. I'm not sure why you would not protect them like your child. At foster falls a few dogs were lost-not leashed while the owner was BUSY NOT SUPERVISING HIS DOG. Another dog was presumably bitten by a snake.looked like a copperhead. Again, not leashed .further, the owner couldn't make a quick decision 3 hrs away from home, on how to get her dog to a nearby veterinarian. It was sad, pathetically sad that the dogs suffered because their owners were irresponsible. Other dogs had not water or food. What is that about? Dogs need nutrition, hydration, attention and supervision. they like to sniff while outdoors and explore. Knowing that, you run risks of injury or illness or certainly in the case of the dog that fell off the cliff, horror and certain death.Be responsible if you love your pup .Leave them at home with a good "animal planet" flick, kind sitter, your spot on the sofa or if brought to the crags, enough food, water and safety gear you would use to protect your child .

I've seen this thread up for quite a while now but never thought it was worth reading. I was bored and decided to open it up for the first time and read a couple of messages.

I hate dogs at crags. I want to kill them. But then there's that whole "polite" thing, so I just try to go somewhere else when I can, or just keep my gear off the ground when I can't.   Edit: Been discussed to death. This is my short and bitter feelings on the subject. :? Nobody will change anyone's mind here, but you asked, so enjoy.

I am the proud owner of a Siberian Husky and my girlfriend and I include him in a number of our outdoor activities. He is well behaved and good with people but none the less he never comes off of his leash and we never include him in climbing. Dogs require constant supervision in new area's or in area's where strange animals or people will likely be encountered. When my ass is tied to a cliff I just don't have the vigillence or mobility to properly look after my dog. If someone is walking by or loitering about with a well behaved, leashed dog I have no problem with them being around but in general I would have to say nay to dogs at the crag.
