pffft.... in about 11 weeks we'll get decent temps for rockclimbing. ice is fun and all but winter is about a lot of rock and a little ice for variety, not 6 months of the crags being snowed in :)

In reply to: In reply to: only 11 more weeks to go!!!! yeee haw! sure you'll find some at the start of november? alpine yes.... but waterfall ice? Wish I was going..... Solo'd r&d (wi4) on Oct 31st three yrs ago Oct 28th two yrs ago, and had to work this year, but I tried to climb it on the 18th, and it woulda gone no problem, but it would've been nice to have someone holding the end of the rope that day

6 Months of great rock (waiting for the ice to come back, and friends leaving you at the bar because "You talk about Ice climbing to much"), 1 month of hiking in everywhere just to see the Ice forming, then......... 5 months of Hell frozen over.... The Typical Year (with 5 perfect months). Can't wait!!!!!

....helps if you're in the right place to start climbing from the end of October.... lucky buggers!.... Over here in Australia the ice season is in 'peak', with unfortunately TOO much snow covering most of the good 'lines'.... buddy of mine was up at Blue Lake last weekend and said the major ice flows were half buried..... blahhhhh..... one of them took his board and had more of a blast than the rest down the chutes..... ....anyway, shoud be on the east coast (VA) through december and hope to find some ice there..... (hope :? )

Just came down from Lake Louise after climbing with German and Cliffraven - Must say I was scoping our potential ice the entire time. Look me up when the season begins - untill then I will be getting pumped on some more 5-10's. Training time for ice is now!!! ~ Greg

Snowed right down to tree line last night. That means it's getting colder. When it gets cold it turns the water to ice. Ice is fun to climb. 8^) :D

Calling for snow level around 4500 ft down here in Montana, and getting colder. Still have rock on the mind but ice in the soul. Mixed routes will be in soon enough and can do both. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I may have to get new tools this season due to the thrashing mine have taken in the passed on the mixed stuff. The grivels have searved me well but some BD Cobras could be nice too. These cold gray days are filling my head with thoughts of blue ice!!!!! Dream on for now.........To be cont....

In reply to: Allright Y'all.. Post up here winter projects name 'em! me...Lucky Lager (m7+) Terminator/Sea of Vapours (WI fukin hard) Blessed Rage ( I dunno) ...hey ren, dude..... how 'bout Hydrophobia? ...man, SOV is more than WI, it's a fukkin nightmare, more like a frozen smear (as it's name suggests), not that I've done it... closest I got to seeing it was the day I was on Professor Falls.... man it looks really scary, especially when you see Terminator right next to it..... poopin' alright, that's for sure!!!!! ...what about Borgeau up near sunshine village.... I did that one quite a few years back. The bottom was very thin at the time, but once we gained some height the ice became awesome! Almost 300m of pure petrifying poop packin' puffin'...... nah, it was a dream climb... bloody awesome! Watch for avalanche though.... but you know the drill, yeah?

I wonder if at certain times during the winter anything will freeze here in NC up in the mountains. I hate all ya'll from Colorado; you can rock climb now and in a couple months will have ice climbing. Go ahead and rub it in though.

Wound up with frost bite on three fingers 'cause it was like -25 C that day too duh

Snow level dropping down to 3500 ft today in northern Montana. Freeze up is looking good. Possibly ice at the 9,000 ft level. !!!! Could be an early season folks. I think the rock climbs I had in mind could become alpine climbs in a hurry. Does that mean its ok to wear my crampons and axes (Hehee - Forgive me chalk hounds). I love 5-9 with the tools. Ice makes the rotten rock my freind. How is the weather up north boys? Rendog and Kman - we have to stop meeting like this. I may be up in Canmore in a few weeks if this rain continues. I will have to hit the back of the lake at Louise under the friendly roof keeping it all dry. Keep me posted on the freeze up. No WiVI for me but would love to follow. 7 Days of rain in the forcast. We better get the goods early season because it looks like a big snow year comming our way. Id give you a wish list but all my ambitions have been directed toward Glacier Park. Many of those WIV climbs are still un named. I have not had a chance to look north beyond the iron curtain. Always looking for new and exciting mixed routes - Lead on boys. ~ Greg F.
