Six-armed hindu god of war, also known as "the destroyer". My world history teacher freshman year of high school made the ancient cultures fascinating.

It's kinda long, and I don't type well... It is posted a few times in some of the 8-10 threads that have asked this same question over the years in this forum and community.

A friend at school was saying my last name over and over with little variations each time trying to come up with a nickname than bam it hit him. He told a few other people and it spread. Eventually everybody that I know, and climb with started calling me Korporal. I figured why not use it as my name on a climbing site.

When my sister was young she was in a hurry, and she pronounced my name rokkitan instead of Rolf Kristian. I found it quite suitable after I started climbing, so there You have it.

the story of my name is what legends are made of, indisputably glorious, yet heartwarming for the whole family. to tell this story though might well render the stories behind all other names lackluster or even dull in comparison, you know, making them all kinda lame, and to leave these others so grief stricken they would no doubt gouge their own eyes out en masse, never again wanting to see in the mirror a person with so not as interesting nor as meaningful a name, plummeting the self esteem way down down, piling on with the self loathing and a weird unspeakable bewilderment as to why the hell a stupid name was so damn important in the first place, i mean, seriously, to lose both eyeballs over i choose to spare others of the emotional devastation and the impending urge for self disfigurement

I found my user name behind a dumpster near downtown Los Angeles. It's prior owner had abandoned it and left it to die a slow agonizing death. Fortunately, I was able to nurse it back to health. 8^)

My last name is Griese - rhymes with easy - and it conveniently finishes off "gri-gri" nicely.

I wanted to call myself "The Master" but, I wasn't good enough. I wanted to call myself "Largo" but I'm not larger than life. I though about "Jody" but I'm not conservative and stupid. I liked the name "Dave Tapes" but, I'm not that Dave. "Too strong" was good but...doesn't apply. So I settled on my initials, which is good because it's not really a pseudonym.

A friend of mine gave it to me in college, when she noticed that I would always sit at the bar, find a drunk girl and take her home.

Because I have a super hero complex (I like to wear capes, mask's, and my Y-fronts over top of spandex tights). It protects my day to day persona from the ravages of the evil Dr. Choss Pile and his band of rockfall flunkies.
