Time to sound like a REAL n00b, but whats so great about Yosemite?!?

Sure, theres the big walls and the granite, but theres lots of other granite in North America...

What puts me off from visiting are:

- Stay limits
- Crowds
- Out-of-control bear problem
- Fees

What am I missing... what does Yosemite have the Squamish, Needles, Colorado, Bugaboos or any of the other granite areas in Northamerica do not?

Smith Rock (stands aloneSmile)

North Cascades, WA (NP and otherwise)
Potrero Chico
Southern Utah (couldn't decide which area)
Yosemite

To answer ihategrigris:
The valley has history, which I appreciate in a climb. It's cool to do the Steck-Salathe, The Nose, or even Royal Arches and think about those crazy guys back in the day. There is just a cloud of climbing lore floating around in the valley.
Also, it has El Cap, which would squash The Chief like a bug. (don't get me wrong, squamish is cool too)
That said, the rangers and crowds do suck during high season. As for fees and limits, if you know your way around and have a low profile, sleepable car, there are none, if you don't mind being a bit of a bum. Or just go there in winter and it's super easy.

IF we include North America, theres a few Canadian areas that can't be left out:

Squamish
Cirque of the Unclimbables
Bugaboos
Valhala Range
Baffin Island

and the Canadian sport climbing capitals: Canmore and Skaha.
