Yes, Yes, I'm officially addicted to E-rock. Anyone up for a road trip in late June? I vote we all head down the weekend of the 22nd.

Also, anyone coming from the Dallas/Ft Worth area is welcome to ride along and just split the cost of gas ...

[Edited to clarify date.]

Hey it would be awesome if we could get together in June. The 22nd works better for me. I think it is great that their is enough Texas climbers to get together and have some fun. Then again it only takes two Texans to have an awesome party!
Especially if it is a guy and a gal

E-rock is one of the BEST places to climb in the entire state! It's located just outside of Fredricksburg or 1.5 hours outside of Austin going West. This place ROCKS!! It is a huge granite dome. Check out this website to see the more.

Hope this helps. It is definitly worth a long drive

um .. okay, here's a hint for the young 'uns then .. never insult the age of the person who's volunteered to drive yo' arse to the crag, or the person who's volunteered to belay you ... lest you will never make it to the legal drinking age.

And, camhead .. dont worry .. your arrival to dfw will just be one more reason to head south and party like rock stars! although, it'll be hotter than in August .. if you know what i mean ...

I have family obligations starting that weekend and the following week. I hope this date works for everyone. If not I totally understand, but I still would be very jealous

Amber,

I think it may still be too soon to spring another climbing trip on my wifey.

Something she said about me and a pair of vice grips.... But, I'll try to sweet-talk her into letting me go play.

And I'm pretty sure that bringing along at least one of the kiddos will be a stipulation she has.

I just saw this and figured I’d jump in also, if that’s ok. Don’t want no one thinking I’m stealing there chalk ball. But maybe we should think of a meeting place this time. Not that some of us didn't meet some real nice people last time, but it kind of defeats the point of a RC get together. But hay that’s just me.

The first day, it might be easy for us all to meet in between Little Rock and Enchanted rock, near the outhouse. (Not in) I would think every one would like to get started early before the routes fill, the triple cracks area might be a good start. I don’t know the level of climbing we are all wanting to do
I don’t know when every one is getting in. More then likely Saturday morning is when I’ll be arriving. I was thinking around ten or so. But it’s all up to Amber, I’m just the heckler in the peanut gallery.
Keep on,

Oh, so I don't know what it is with people and their weddings...

Just found out last night that I was volunteered to be at a wedding on the afternoon of the 22nd - however, I'll be out at E-Rock climbing - starting around 9:30-ish am.

I'll be heading back to civilization around 3pm though - just a warning (which you'll prolly cheer for

And yes the big boulder in the shade by the outhouse sounds like a good place to meet and warm up a little before we hit the real good stuff.

Yay for the heckler's in the peanut gallery! .. and there will be no bounding of the amber on this roadtrip .. i'll have my attack son with me, and he will permit no such actions.

also, thanks to the influence of rrradam, karen, and fiend, i will be tracking down a bop-it and begging for a slackline. oh, and if anyone wants to make me a quad-mocha in the morning, rrradam-style .. i would be a most happy little climber indeed.

okay, now, down to business .... so, who all will be arriving on Friday vs Saturday? If people are arriving on Friday night, then it may be worthwhile to organize a campsite for everyone to meet at as we trickle in. (And watch the message boards at the front this time .. they can be effective when people read the notes.)

Also, it may be worthwhile to set up multiple meeting times/places ... how about a 9:30a and a 2p meeting at the place pulnerth mentioned? That way, if someone is late (read: me), they wont be stuck hiking all day instead of climbing.

Dallas-folk,

Who all is free on Friday. It's my standard night to climb and thought that it would be a good idea if we could meet at a gym and get to know each other a little ... PM if you're interested/available ....

Also, who wants to car pool and what day do you want to leave (Friday night or just before dawn on Sat)? It's about a four hour drive, so we'll have to be on the road around 5a, if we're leaving on Sat, so that we have time to get there, park, and hike in. (If we can all climb together on Friday, we can work out the details then.)

Sauron,
If we camp, do you want to bring the bop-it, some webbing and biners, and the gf to hang for the evening? (Items are listed in order of priority.) and before you get any ideas, the webbing is for a slackline .. I'm addicted. As for a person to be bound, how about the person who asks "are we there yet" first ...

clymbr_chk,

I'll mention it to the girl - but I doubt she's up for it.. Which means I'll be coming out on saturday morning, bright and early... I'll drag the bop-it and the slackline out, though... Grf.

Amber, I would be able to leave on Fri. It would be nice to already be at E-rock on Sat. so we could be semi-rested and ready to start climbing. Can anyone else leave on Fri. In my book the sooner the better

Hey everybody, I have a big tent that I'm going to be bringing so if you want to stay in that let me know. I think it sleeps btwn. 6-8 depending on how cozy you want to get. I'd prefer to stay in the campsites next to the parking lot for a couple reasons.
1. Don't have to carry in all that equipment (tent, food, sleeping bags etc...)
2. I've heard of some awesome bouldering problems really close to those campsites.
3. Showers, so we all don't stink too bad.
4. Overall convience of being closer to the car. That way if you want to go into town for dinner one night you don't have a couple mile hike back on a full stomach in the dark.
Just putting in my 2 cents, Mo.

Would anybody object to me bringing my pup instead of my partner???
No worries I will clean up after her and if she’s bugging anybody we will jet out the only thing I might ask is to watch her while I am on the rock.

Unless anyone objects, I plan to call and get some campsites reserved ahead of time so that we can all be together (and near the showers, if possible).

I'd like to get a good head count, though, before I call and reserve too much or too little ..

Dren/xterramo .. arriving Friday pm
Coach/Raul ... arriving Friday pm
Cajunclimber/Pulnerth .. arriving Friday ?
clymbr_chk, little one, and possibly two others ... arriving Friday
goatsoup and dad .. arriving Friday ?

And, sauron, who may make a brief appearance with bop-it and girlfriend.

Did I miss anyone? Also, once I have the campsites reserved, I'll post the campsite numbers, and we can just trickle in to the campsites ..

There's also been talk of night climbing .. anyone else game?

Yes, the girlfriend mentioned yesterday that she might come with, to go hiking.. She might also invite her roommate with, if she does come with - so that they can go hiking together.

My climbing partner had also expressed great interest in coming along, and one of my other friends. Alas, it's hard to get 100% confirmation much more than 2-ish days in advance, due to scheduling issues with us all.

So, to make matters interesting:
(in order of Amber's priority)

  • Bop-It
  • Slackline
  • Me.
  • Somewhat likely, my girlfriend.
  • Maybe, her roommate.
  • Very likely, my climbing partner.
  • Somewhat likely, his girlfriend. (Who also happens to be my gf's roommate, but different one than above)
  • Maybe, a friend of mine.

Yeah, I like to make things as confusing as possible.

- d.

We should arrive around 6:00-7:00 PM. Post the campsite number if you have it so we will know where to head.

FYI, we currently have three sites reserved (by myself, xterramo, and cajunclimber), and each site is entitled to a max of 8 people, so we should be covered as far as the campsites go ...

Once xterramo and dren stake claim to some specific campsite #s, i'll post them to this thread .. we can all just meet at the campsite as we trickle in ..

Okay, here's the low down...

His Majesty, "I", and my Queen, "K" - will be making an appearance sometime Friday evening, and camping 'till Saturday. She plans on going hiking, while I plan on joining the peeps, climbing...

I have mentioned the possibillity of camping to my climbing partner, who might show up friday evening (sans his girlfriend? She's not sure if she wants to cancel her hair appointment saturday or not) - and if he doesnt show up friday (with us, presumably) - he'll be there saturday morning, bright and early..

So, present company included, I'm 2-4 people.

I just had to put my car in the shop for repairs and it has been promised to be ready late tomorrow or early Friday. Hopefully it will be done and Raul and I will be there but I won't know until Thurs or Friday. I am without wheels until then. Also, any word on which sites the groups will be meeting at?

Coach,

Sorry to hear about the car .. that definitely sucks! As for the campsites, they wont give us actual campsite #s until we get there.

xterramo and dren are getting there early-ish on Friday, so they're going to pick out the campsites and call me with the #s. I'll post the #s to this thread, and they will put up a sign on the bulletin board by the main entrance.

Car dealership just called and the wheels will be up and running tomorrow evening so it looks like a go. I plan to punch out here about noon and pick up Raul in San Antonio. We should be there around 6-7:00 PM and will check the bulletin board to find out which site. Look forward to meeting you but be warned that I have no coordination with the hacky sack thing.

Okay, to make things a little easier..

On the little guard hut at the entrance gate, there's a list of what sites are reserved for what people...

soo... if those of you who've been gracious enough to reserve spots, would please post your names - then, as people arrive, we'll know which sites to go to...

(Oh, and please bring a pen, and whenever the first person shows up, put up a note to the effect of "We are here" and stick your name on it (and leave space for others to put their name on it as well.. Then we'll have a running total of who's showed up so far, and stuff.. Gah, I'm planning too much

Anyways, It's confirmed. Me and 3 others (my gf, my partner, his gf).

Sauron,

xterramo, cajunclimber, and I are the ones who have reserved campsites, but my understanding is that we will not receive an actual campsite# until the first person arrives (xterramo and dren), so we'll just get them to start the sign-up sheet (good idea, btw).

Also, just so everyone knows .. while we are allowed eight people per campsite, we're only allowed two vehicles per campsite, each vehicle thereafter is $2/day.

So, we're currently covered for 24 people and 6 cars .. we should be okay, but i though that once everyone arrives, we can figure out the total cost of camping (including any extra vehicle charges) and divide it equally amongst all who show . .. sound fair?

Amber,

Yeah - and if you post your real names (maybe I'm lazy and CBA to go look them up myself ) - then everybody knows who'se names to look for on the list-of-campsites-reserved-this-evening - that's hanging at the entrance to E-rock.

It was just posted as alternative/back up in case the campsite numbers don't make it to the site, or we don't have time to check (most likely in my case) before we head out of town tomorrow..

cajun,

she's fine - at least once you tie her arms together... (I'm not kidding.. she had the hardest time playing hackey when she was able to wave her arms around.. once that was gone, she did fairly well

Yeah, you'll be fairly fine... got a crashpad?

All jokes aside - it seems me and the girl will be showing up around 8-ish, maybe a little later.. I'm wondering if we're gunna grab some grub on the way, or whether Amber will have a tasty dinner waiting for all those who arrive.. (Yes, girl.. I know you can't cook. )

Sauron. .. for the cooking dinner comment.

Eric .. I'll play as nice as I possibly can, but you must assume responsibility for any personal injury which may be sustained while playing hacky.

coach,

I had to bleed $499 (insurance deductible) on my truck yesterday, after some lady got in the way of my driver's side door while turning left..

Dren,
Know what you mean. Great time with all the gang that showed up. Sorry that I couldn't stay another day but duty at home called. Look forward to a chance to hook up again in the future. I hope we can all meet up for a weekend a Continental Ranch later in the year. We can start a thread a little later this summer and see if there is any interest.
