Labor issues aside, this post was about the new shoe deisgns. I used to be a die-hard 5.10 fan. My first pair of shoes was a pair of La Sportivas that I didn't like much. Then 2 pairs of 5.10's that I loved then a pair of MAD rocks that I hated. Poor fit (subjective, I know), short lived rubber (wore through the toe in a little over a month, compared to my 5.10's that lasted me 6 and 10 months) then a pair of Montrails (Splitters). Freakin love the new Montrails. Fit well, maybe not as percise as the 5.10 velcro's I had, but a way better trad shoe. I'm sold on these new shoes, I like the rubber (no way to tell how long they'll last yet, they're still new). Yeah, the Mad shoes might look cool, the 5.10's might have nice bells and whistles, but I'm sold on what works for me. Cool shoes are still scky shoes if they don't work well. And I'd rather pay the extra money for a pair of shoes that last me a long time than to get a cheap pair of shoes that need to be replaced in 2 months. It's actually cheeper to spend more for a longer lasting shoe. Just my 2 cents... Hosh.

Yeah, I agree with russman on the previous page, there is a bit too much black on a few of Mad Rock's designs, making them mighty hot in the sun. I have a pair of the Hookers, with less black than the Sharks, and the heat has distracted me more than a few times.

How come all Curt ever does is tell people they are wrong? I've never seen him explain why, or redeem himself in any other way. weak sauce.

In reply to: The only reason why madrock shoes are cheaper, is because the founder (of Madrock) left Five-Ten ripping off Five-Ten technology and patents. He then turned around and got his shoes made in sweat-shops of China. Compare - Five-Ten are made in Redlands CA, LaSportiva in Italy, etc... Countries where workers have rights. e_wire Sweet! Madrocks come presweated! Wonder how much that cuts down on the break in time. Stop worrying about the Chinese in the sweat shop, they are just happy to have a job in that country and probably appreciate getting to work even if it is in an undesirable atmosphere. If this guy stole 5.10 patents wouldn't this be a violation? Wouldn't 5.10 sue? Keep Mad Rock Strong! Buy MR! Maddddd Rooooccckkk! WOO HOO! Edit: After reading some more posts, and lawsuit stuff. 5.10 sueing Madrock would be like when John Fogerty was sued for copyright infrengement of John Fogerty, suit was broght by his old record label????
