I am going to put a pull-up bar on my doorframe. I think that is the most cost effective way of training. I was thinking about I could get my finger muscles working too. I once saw someone put runners on a bar or hangboard and do hangs and pull-ups that way with 2 fingers etc. Is that safe for your fingers?

it is if your fingers are strong enough, so begin your 2finger pull-ups with moderate weight (i mean use the help of the bench or smth like it)

I agree with kitt, start with moderate weights then build your way up. Take your time in building finger strength, I once heard that tendons and muscles gain strength at diferent rates, something like 1:3 tendon/muscles, so your arms can feel very strong to move on but your tendons might get hurt and tendinitis is not pleasant.
