I need new laces for my Koflach Arctic Expe's and can't find them anywhere. Any ideas? I thought of 3 mm perlon. Also, I saw "Sierra Lace Replace-a-Lace" at REI. Basically a generic replacement for anything. Has anyone had this problem or have any input? Thanks

Jude, I'm planning on replacing the laces (inside and out) on my Asolo Evoluziones. I like the idea of using 3 or 4 mil perlon because it should be stronger than most regular laces. The only cause for concern would be the knotability and un-knotability of accessory cord. Oh, and the inner laces should probably be the flat kind to avoid pressure points. Check out your local shoe/boot repair shop and ask them if they could order proper replacements. Cheers, Montafoner

I know this may sound strange, but I went back to leather laces in all my boots years ago. After saturating them with SnowSeal.. I find them way better the synthetic for knot-a-bility. In fact.. that's exactly what I do, just tie a knot in them- no bows. The knot never slips, yet is easy to undo and the little quick hooks at the top of the boots, don't cut through them at like it did with synthetic laces. I did have a bit of a time finding thick-long enough leather laces, but eventually I scored 5 pairs of really heavy duty black ones at a shoe repair shop that are so long I have to cut 18" off them. Just my preference

whatever you choose make sure you get some laces that can be used as an emergency rappel sling, you never know when you'll need 'em

I use 3mm accessory cord for my laces its quite a bit stronger than regular laces. It ties well, doesn't come loose easily, I haven't had any problems with it. The cord I got has some sort of glow-in-the-dark added to it, which can be nice if your putting on your boots at night.
