I'm going to be in Vegas Thursday and my afternoon is unexpectedly free. I'd be psyched to do an afternoon at Red Rocks (probably would have to be sport since I don't get in til noon) with someone who knows the place. It's very possible my fiance and I will be moving here and I'd love to get a preview of all the climbing possible. I'm kind of a noob but I'm safe and a good belayer. I'm leading up to 5.9 (again, sport. Much less trad) but am up for trying anything. Lemme know! Elyse climberrn@gmail.com

Going to Red Rocks to just climb sport. Thats like going to Yosemite just to boulder, or going to Vegas for the buffet.

Fair enough. But arriving at noon, being able to get out there by oneish and the sun being gone by 5 doesn't leave a hell of a lot of time for approach, descent and climb. Mayhap you didn't notice the "noob" designation; I ain't fast. I just want to climb! I take it you're not offering?

However, if I were, I'd give you a tour and take you up a couple pitches of trad. Then maybe climb some sport BS.

In reply to: Going to Red Rocks to just climb sport. Thats like going to Yosemite just to boulder, or going to Vegas for the buffet. except for the part where Red Rocks is a world-class sport climbing destination all on its own even without the trad climbing in the canyons across the way. i sympathize and would go out with ya, but i gotta work! goin' out that weekend, though...trad climbin!
