Hi =} I live in the Dayton area but travel to Cleveland and Cinci often. I am looking for climbing partners, both indoor and outdoor. I still consider myself a beginner but have climbed a dozen times in the New River Gorge in WV within the last 2-3 years. I haven't had much time to focus on the sport but recently gradauted from college and have too much time on my hands!! I am anxious and eager to learn more and am looking for climbing partners! I have my own equip except a rope. I do not know how to set up my own routes, but am wanting to learn. Drop me a line or email me at howa_girl@yahoo.com **Laura** :D

Have you been to the gym in Dayton yet, The Urban Krag? I just moved from Dayton and miss that place as much as I miss the Red. It's in downtown Dayton in an old church on Cass St, just behind the Oregon District. Tell them Michele set you and says hi. ~Mic

That is a pretty cool gym. I hate how the grigri's are permanently attached to the floor, however. It seems crazy and unsafe to belay without the belay device attached to you.

um, dude...you were suppose to attache the grigris to you. They are attached to the floor permanently so that fatties don't pull the littlin's too far up and they're permanent so they don't walk off. I found it to be an extremely safe gym filled with experience climbers, setters, instructors that aren't afraid to tell you if you're gonna get hurt and are always willing to help if you just ask.

Edit, sorry, let me put that another way.... Laura, you might want to delete your 2 duplicate threads!

Thanks for the info! I did not hear of this one, I have only been to Rockquest a few times 'cuz I used to live closer to Cinci. I just accepted a teaching job in Dayton, near the Oregon District, so I will surely check it out. **Laura**

How often have you been there? I have been to Rockquest once (in Cinci) a few years back. Do you climb outdoors? Where? **Laura**

I am moving to Cincinnati and will be looking for some people to climb with. Either at Rockquest or outside at the Red. I have a rope and a set of draws. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up.

Have you tried the Ohio Climbers Association (or something close to that) for a hookup?. Also at John Bryan Park, just east of you about 15 ~ 20 miutes in Yellow Springs, there are some nice top rope routes for learning/practicing anchor set-ups, Big eye bolts. My son and I climb there sometimes.

Hello =] I will keep this in mind! As for now, school will be starting (I am a Kindergarten teacher) so I don't know exactly when I will get down to WV again. I have heard Seneca is cool, but I have not been there. Most of my climbing in WV is during the summer when school is not in session. Take care, and we'll talk again soon! ~ Laura
