I had a pair, and eventually sold them to get Vipers.

I think it's a pretty good tool...but I just wanted something with a little more curve to it, and something that protected my knuckles more.

I thought they swung well when leashless, and really well with the leashed handles.

I guess I could liken the tool to a heavier version of the Aztar when leashed, and one of the better leashless tools for ice. The tools shift a bit when you play with matching hands and all...but the grip design is pretty cool. I hear the Quark Ergos were really good on ice, but I never got too excited about them.

I ended up climbing on them almost exclusively leashed after I got the straight grips for them...and the Quark/ Viper was more of a tool design that fit what I was doing then.

But for the money, it's a great option to do both leashless and leashed. I think you MAY be better off if you can climb for a while on leashless tools, and leashed tools, and then decide what you wanna stick to. Because it's a pain to switch the tools around and reset your leashes and all....you'll end up climbing one way almost all the time.

Other than that, I guess you'll have to try them out.

Cheers,
Jim
