What is your favorite pair of shoes you have ever owned? Why?

I would have to say Five Ten Moccasyms. You can do anything in them bouldering, sport, and trad these shoes take it all in stride. And do most of it considerably well compared to the 100.00 dollar price tag.

Five Ten Newtons, they're magic. I actually don't know how to climb, it's all in my magic shoes.

I agree with the 5.10 moccasyms. At 100 bucks a pair I am on my third pair. I could spend 40 bucks getting them resoled but then I would not have them for awhile plus they just don't have the same feel as a new pair. I had a pair of boreal vectors that were nice also. They were good at the steep stuff.

I have a pair of scarpa gripper slippers that have served me better than anything else I have ever worn. They need to be resoled though, so they haven't been used in a while. I also just got a new pair of red chili's salsa slippers that have been nice for the one or two times i've used them. Only time will tell with those though.

For my money, the Boreal Aces can't be beat! I love the rigid sole that the board last provides, allows me to stand on dime ledges all day, without a single appearance by Elvis. The rubber is good, but nothing beats stealth, so I'll just have to burn them up and get them re-soled soon.

Does anyone have any experience with the scarpa minima or the five ten zlipper? I am in the market for a new pair of slippers and these two caught my attention. I am also interested in the Bufo Fly (www.rockshoes.com), the Rock Pillars Fox (www.climbaxe.com), and the Mammut Psycho as all got very goot reviews from Climbing magazine. Also, I have a pair of Red Chilis Salsa slippers that I need to sell. They are in perfect shape, but just don't fit me very well. If you're interested, email me at munckee@hotmail.com to get more info. Thanks!

I am impressed by La Sportiva's Mythos. Buy them extremely small cause they stretch quite a bit, use the hell out of them, THEN get them resoled with some five-ten rubber and you have a great set-up. A fully adjustable heel makes them fit just the way you like. Great for all around climbing!

In reference to another post further up, I have a pair of aces as well. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I hate them. They are really comfy which is great, but I'm not too keen on the board lasting system. I like a lot more feel on the rock. My biggest gripe with them is the rubber. I have an older pair (the old black and green ones) so maybe its changed, but after using them, I vowed never to buy another pair of boreals.

I love my Anasazi Velcros by Five.ten. They're great, and I guess I don't have too much time with them since I just got them, but they're magic! They stick to the rock like glue, and the velcro system makes an easy entry and a comfortable fit, since it has no tongue. They're Great!!

La Sportiva Miura. Love the fit. It is the best fitting shoe I've tried on. Plus its super sensitive.

of the contour. to me i like the comfort.

I recently purchased a pair of moccasyms as well. I bought them about a half size bigger than I would if I wanted super sport shoes because I wanted them for all-day wear. So far they seem pretty nice. How long does it take them to stretch out? Mine are a little bit tighter than I'd like, but I think once they loosen up, they'll be da' bomb!

I love my Boreal Aces. A great all around shoe. They fit me better than any other shoe I have tried, which is probably due to the fact that I have strange shaped feet. They are supper tight but I still can climb in them all day.

originally- the moccasyms.
but now- the 5.10 Ascents never seem to leave my feet. I wear em just barely smaller than my street shoe size- and I can walk around all day in em. I was only able to pull "5.10" in them until a recent resole and now 11's are possible(running man- red rocks)...all this in a comfy pair of loafers. They may surprise you!

It's all going to come to to individual taste and fit, but for me the Sportiva Mythos is by far the best I've ever tried. I can waer them mind-bogglingly small, but still keep them on all day, and they seem to be pretty darn good at everything (now if only I was...)
