Has anybody out there used either of these tools much? I was wondering if the Aztarex would preform as well on vertical ice as some of the other tools out there made specifically for waterfall ice. And, there are hardly any reviews out on the Trango scorpion, has anyone used this tool? Thanks, Matt

I've never used the aztarex, but really liked the scorpion. it feels a lot like a quark, IMHO. nice balance and great swing.

The Scorpions climb really well on steep to not so steep ice. I've always gone leashless with them and the pinky rest is super comfortable. I tried attaching the Grivel Trigger finger rest as well but the rubber handle makes it difficult so choking up is kind of a pain. All in all, though, a great tool for the price!

Yeah, I have sorta been leaning towards getting the Scorpion because i already have a general mountaineering axe, and the aztarex seems to be a mix between that and an ice tool.
