Does anyone know of a bouldering guide for this area with problems and/or ratings?

Do you know how to use Google?

Search it and report back. I bet you will find the same thing I did.

We used to just go out there and climb whatever looked cool.

You can find guides for this all over the place. I'd suggest PJ asch outfitters in Stillwater. There's also a lot of good information on the Wisconsin side...right at the front of the park.

but as previously stated, Taylor's Falls has TONS to boulder...you really can't miss it. walk on any of the paths and look for chalk marks, or if you're on the Minnesota side, just look for other climbers, the place is a freakin zoo. Fantastic climbing though.

finally, if you are there, and you just can't seem to find the right boulder for your liking or skill level, just ask around. most folks who climb there regularly (like me) are pretty nice people, and a lot of people have some really good beta on the climbs there.

Thanks choss, that map on google is basically what I was looking for. I don't know how I didn't find that before.

I 've bouldered there before, and yes there are alot of options, I just like to have a ballpark rating on the problems. Thanks again for the help.

Know of other bouldering spots in the St. Paul area?
(besides JJ and Taylors, and...Nicollet Island(??)-never been here)

There are a few erratics. I forget where though. I even forget where I saw them. I think it was in a copy of Vertical Jones. I don't know if that magazine is even around anymore.

you mentioned Nicollet Island, which really got my attention. I work like 3 blocks from there. from what I know it's flat, with a convention center, some townhomes and a business or two. do you know something I don't about the landscape in the area? nicollet park? boom island park?

I would LOVE it if there was even a small place to boulder at around there...it would really help kill time waiting for traffic to die down.

does anyone know if there's any validity to this area? or if Mwelly just got my hopes up for nothing :D

http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/North_America/United_States/Minnesota/Central_East/Urban/Nicollet_Island/

That's a link to a different page on this site. Minnesota->Central East->Urban->Nicollet Island

I don't think its anything special, just some traverses under or along the train bridge. I've never been there, so let me know if it's worth it.

awesome! thanks for the link. I'll check it out after work today and get back to ya tomorrow. good thing I keep my shoes and bad with me everywhere I go :D

I'm not going to expect much out of this, but hey, its something new to climb and a great way to get some exercise in before I climb back in the car and make the long rush-hour drive home.

so...checked out nicollet island yesterday. it's garbage. not worth checking out imo. I traversed about 60 feet with my flip flops on, then decided it wasn't worth the effort to even put my shoes on.

just way too easy. you could hand campus all the way across it if your muscles could handle it. plus when they say "next to the railroad tracks" they mean "NEXT TO THE F*CKING RAILROAD TRACKS"...I just about got plowed over....twice...just overall a bad place to climb unfortunately =\
