Now, I have nothing against folks taking their shirts off to climb at the crag on a sunny day, I've done it myself in the past, usually so I have a nice dry shirt to wear later. But Sunday it was 55degrees. And the 8 guys listening to the ipod with the portable speakers, who obviously had their shirts off to impress the one girl in the group, were an embarrassment. I hate to be a grade snob too, but if you are flailing all over 5.8, shouting "F@#$, rarrr!!", and kicking the rock while the ipod blares and you pump out 30ft off the ground, you are "that" guy. Please don't be "that" guy.

So what you're saying is that you have to "live up to" and "earn" your style. I could agree with that.

I've asked people on multiple occasions to turn off their music, its not a gym. You'd be surprised how many people are flabbergasted I'd even asked- and I'm polite in person (contrary to some posts on the knob )

Its like wearing sweatpants and Uggs in public. You are clearly doing it on purpose, and clearly look foolish.

Damb Dave, now I wish I'd stripped off my shirt Sunday ;-). Next time, just for you, I'll see if I can find some tights as well... Maybe I should have grunted climbing up that heinous 5.3 I mastered

Not at all - I had a fine day out. ScoTt was there and we had a nice time. I would've liked to have got on the climb they were ganking, but I've done it a few times already, so no biggie. But I agree with you that if you want to look and act like a total tool and swear loudly with kids around, you have every right to do so.
