I've been resisting the urge to buy this bag but I’m losing the fight. What are your thoughts on the bag? I plan on hitting The Black quite a bit over the next few years with a few El Cap/ Half Dome trips in there somewhere. I’m just not sure I need a bag that big, but for the price…

Metolius bags are good. But it all depends on the route and how you pack it. The bag could last one wall, or 10, it all depends.

Good bag, so so price. I just got a third bag off e-bay, never used, same size for fifty cheaper than that, but had to pay fifteen or so for shipping.
Fish bags are economical, and durable as all get out. Mine has the same mileage as my other metolious, and is in better shape. No roll top collar on it though, which is a plus in my book. Less weight, not tempted to over stuff it, which tends to let em hang up/wear bad on top. My Fish is a budget.

You can get that bag for $125 at backcountry.com outlet. Use the coupon code: 2X9-1-YEL9U. It extends the discount to 40%. They have the El Cap too.

I just bought it from Backcountry thank you Alpine07. It was the regular Half Dome and not the Alpine one but I’m ok with that, Hell $125 not too bad.

pmyche Thank you for the write up, it definitely helped with the decision.
