Devil's Lake - June 1-6?

I may be up Madison way the weekend of May 28-31st (Memorial day), and if so, would be interested in getting some climbing in the week after.

Is this a reasonable time of year to be thinking of climbing at Devil's Lake?

Anyone interested in spending a day, or a few days, that week climbing with me?

(Given the vagaries of grades in various areas, and the variance in rock, I hate to say how hard I climb. I can probably follow/TR in the mid 5.10s, lead 5.8 or so Trad, 5.9 or so sport.)

Awesome!

Most of that is week-day, since I've heard things can get busy on the weekend.

the lake is really nice that time of year! I spent the entire week before memorial day there several years ago and got it 7 days of great climbing. met alot of nice people. During the week would definently be youre best bet tho, as the lake tends to fill rather quickly and campsites are even harder to obtain for the whole weekend! nothing like having to move your campsite or way over paying for camping at one of the private campgroungds!

2 notes: no matter how crowded the park gets you can always find a crag to yourself, and if you've never been there get ready to be thoroughly spanked on the 5.8's.

I quite expect to be spanked on anything and/or everything. At any new area, I generally try to start on easy stuff, and work my way upwards to get a feel for the grades (and rock) in the area.

I do know, though, that the outdoor route grades local to me are generally fairly stiff, too. (I've followed 5.10c cleanly at EPC, I've fallen of 5.8s at my local crag.)

Only if you don't have good climbing technique.
