For those of you in the South Plains of NM, TX, OK area...the Annual Vertical Plains Climbing Competition is on Feb 15th. The comp is being hosted by Texas Tech University and is open to all climbers. Registration started today for the comp, and all the information for the competition can be found at http://www.ttu.edu/recsports ...just follow the Vertical Plains logo. For those considering pulling in this comp, there will be two sessions (morning and afternoon) which should help out those coming in. It is a redpoint format competition with bouldering and toproping. First 70 registrants are eligible for the free grab bag and comp shirt. We anticipate over 80 climbers from NM, OK, and TX. This competition is just a fun comp, it is not part of the USCCA or ABS series. If you have questions feel free to email bryan.ng@ttu.edu Climb like you live [ This Message was edited by: climbng on 2003-01-16 22:03 ] [ This Message was edited by: climbng on 2003-01-16 22:04 ] [ This Message was edited by: climbng on 2003-01-16 22:05 ]

Oh yeah! thanks CDB We are thankful to have two local sponsors for this event, Mountain Hideaway and Alderson Subaru. They are tremendous assets to the program, and they play a big role in the success of our comp...as well as the swag. First 70 registrants are gaurunteed swag. and everyone else can hope to win the big prizes from either our own raffle or the access fund raffle at the end of the event. The top placers are awarded trophies... Come get your swag! [ This Message was edited by: climbng on 2003-01-23 07:43 ]

Well, I just got back from the tech comp and it kicked ass. A&M students cleaned up getting 1st and 3rdin womens advanced, 3rd in Interm. womens, 3rd in mens advanced, and 1st in mens interm. It was very cool. The routes were set well and there was a good variety of tyes of climbs. To all those that let it happen...thanks!

I had a pretty awesome time at the comp today. I didn't climb as well as I had hoped but I still won the mens beg. division. I got so pissed off I missed the finishing move on the roof route twice, and I think that threw me off. Oh well. Hope everyone else had as good a time as I did.
