I'm planning a trip to Anchorage on Labor Day Weekend to hopefully get in a good day or two of climbing on Seward Hwy. or somewhere close... Anyone interested in joining me?

I would be, but with school starting the day after that weekend, I hope to be camping in Archangel Valley one last time before my free time is limited again. Good luck!

Do you do any bouldering? There are a couple cool areas reasonably near Anchorage. I haven't been on a rope much outdoors but would be interested in giving it a shot. I image I would be in the 5.10 range also. I boulder from about Vnothing to V3.

My climbing partners are scumbags.  If you guys get any plans together, and wouldn't mind a third person, post them here, so I can see if I can weasel my way into a ride to anchorage. That weekend looks busy for me so far (and no camping either  ), but on labor day I have nothing to do, and I definately want to meet a few more of the locals (see above comment about climbing partners). Hopefully we can work something out. :)

Right on... When we figure out some sure plans I will post them and you're more than welcome to come with... Definitely good to meet more local climbers... Always... Take Care... :) (And sorry about the Partner thing... that's a bummer...)

I'll be arriving in Anchorage on the 1st of September and would be up for a few days of climbing. How long are you around for?

Bummer... I believe the current plan is to come down on Thur. Night, or Saturday and probably leave either Sunday Night or Monday Morning... Oh well, I will keep you informed if the plans happen to change... and if I make it down again before the snow flys I'll post it... Also mabe we could hit some ice this winter if you're into that at all...

I've always wanted to try ice climbing, but I won't be there long enough. Where abouts in Alaska are you based? I'm renting a car with a friend and we are going to be touring around for the month of September, so maybe we could hook up for some climbing somewhere other then Anchorage.

wandering_dusk: That's too bad about the plans, cause I don't think that will work for me, but we'll definately meet up sometime in the future and climb. Maybe someone should plan another meet-up of Alaskan climbers... :) And as for the ice, I've never done it yet, so I don't have the gear for it, but from what everyone tells me, it's fun stuff, so I'm interested, I think. ;) Just have to go buy some warm gloves so I can be a belay slave and get started. climbingpix: I'm in Wasilla, which is about an hour's drive north of anchorage. Archangel Valley is pretty close to where I live, and has a lot of great climbing, but by the time september gets here, it will be cold. Dunno how cold, but quite possibly even full of snow by the middle of the month. I'd be happy to show you guys around the place though.

Right on... I live in Fairbanks so if anyone is ever coming to the area give me a holler... We don't have too much great rock up here but there's a few places worth having a go at... Look forward to meeting everyone... Ryan
