Choose neither. Walk into a magazine store, and finger through these magazines, yet do not purchase them. They are not worth the money! [ This Message was edited by: stroker on 2002-02-09 06:41 ]

These two magazines are good. To my taste, climbing is better, but both are good. There are other good options. Perhaps High in England is the best one, or Desnivel in Spain.

"Gripped", Canadas magazine. It's grassroots.

Climbing is a far better magazine. Rock and Ice has lame stories and articles and mainly features pictures. -sONofSpORk

Gripped was grass roots. Remember how on the first few issues it said "All Canadian content" Sam dropped that rather fast in his pursuit for the almighty buck. It'll lose it's grass roots qualities as soon as it gets more popular.

Does anybody remember a mag from the 70's called "Off Belay" or maybe it was "On Belay"? What I remember of it was pretty cool.

That depends on which type of climbing you are into. Seeing as your personal description says that you enjoy sport climbing, then I would most definitely go with 'Climbing'. However, if you are more into Ice climbing, yet enjoy the certain subtleties of rock climbing, then 'Rock and Ice' should be your choice.
