I hate to admit that I've never actually climbed, but I really want to. The only problem is that I need some info on where to go, what to get, etc. I'm located in South Chicago, so if anyone can help and let me know something that would be great. I appreciate and hope to hear from someone. Thanks. :?

cant help you with were to go.
if you know someone you can climb with that has an extra harness thats all you really need to start. (or you can make a harness out of webbing to start out with (ot very comfy))
after that you should get climbing shoes locking carabiner and belay device.

There have got to be some good climbing gyms or clubs in the Chicago area. I would recommend you find one of these and get an introduction to climbing that would include some basic instruction of some sort.

go to www.indoorclimbing.com and find a local gym in your area. I hear that climb on in Homewood is nice and that might not be to far from you.

There is also info on some club on that page.
We also have several users who live in either Chicago or it's suberbs, so this thread will get some replies from those users... You will be hooked up.

firstly u should go and join a gym and get talkin to people there.. maybe see if one of them could take you to a local crag or something...

I would say go to Climb On in Homewood(30min) or Vertical Endeavors in Warrneville(45min)
