Aid Rack?

So I've decided its time to start aid climbing. My question is about gear... I know what a good starter is for trad, but just don't know exactly how much I should pour into gear for aid. Also, who makes the best aiders and how many is common? I've got a rack of cams from .3 BD-about #4 BD will have two sets of stoppers soon and a set of micro stoppers. I live about a 4 hour drive to the Valley so I plan to start practicing there. So what kind of extra gear do I need for those valley Aid routes? Cam hooks? Sky Hooks? More micros? A little advice is needed. Thanks Guys

Well, he's what I'd carry for starters:

Hooks
-2 pointed cliff hanger
-2 pointed grappling
-2 pointed talons
-2 ea reg and large cam hooks

Nuts
-Brass Hb offset nuts

Cams
-black alien to red alien (5 cams)
-set of alien hybrids

Nailing Stuff
This stuff should never be used on clean routes! But there are many valley practice routes that have some nailing. Ask copperhead, he put togather a list and could give you some good tips.
-2 beaks
-4 blades #2-5
-5 arrows #1-5
-1 ea 1/2", 5/8" angles
-Hammer
-Some heads
-blunt chisel

Other Stuff
-Yates Wall ladders are nice but really anything will work
-Hand tied daisy chains
-Doulble gear sling helps

Only thing I'd add is Yates adjustable daisies...not bad to learn on reg daisys though I guess...naw just get the adjustables.

Ahhh.... I understand your pain with the hybrid aliens! I am desperately seeking some as well! I have been told that the waiting list is 3-4 months. They're like gold dust!

I really like my Misty Mountain aiders. They're the ladder style so they always hang straight and open. This makes it really easy to get your feet in as you move up. They also have these elastic thingies on the two steps you use for jugging which keep the aiders attached to your feet even if you unweight them--very handy!

Man, I feel for you people without hybrids. I grabbed 2 sets a while back right when they started to get hard to find. They really make stuff easier if you can find them.

I guess it is so bad that a friend of mine that works at Wilsons in Bishop said that they are no longer going to even CARRY Aliens.

I think the boys at CCH may have run some hybreds...a particular gear shop has some sets coming in...of course they are all spoken for.

I will let you know if they actually arrive.

The wait may soon be over!
